Fragile

Fragile

For a while I have tried to find a thread I had started when I joined the forum that could be a "home" thread for me.

Being busy about the forum has been a coping style, where I can acknowledge all my different life experiences that had been silenced. Possibly do some good and prevent things from getting worse. Like the little boy with the finger in the dyke.

Listening to it now.

It is the psalm they had on my choir piano teacher friend's funeral.

Thanks

Still very delicate & agitated ... fixed a few things sorted shopping for next couplke dinners.

Re: Fragile

Take it easy @Appleblossom . As you would say, gently Bentley.

How nice to hear a real life congregation. I have a Free Church of Scotland app with a complete set of metrical Psalms with optional wonky MP3 accompaniments... but the texts are good and they're searchable. It's a free app. The rhythmic cadences are very soothing.

Re: Fragile

Thanks for telling me about it. @Dimity I am going to do a study of it, It explains some of the numbering in my hymnbooks and I want to understand all about it.

Hoping you had a better day @Appleblossom without further abrasive encounters or old wounds reopening. Cold dark and wet here atm, hope you're snug.

Re: Fragile

I did @Dimity Thanks for caring.

Going very quietly today. Mainly music garden made seafood pastries plus salad for dinner.

Last night a lady offered to drive me to the station and today a friend gave me a music ticket she cannot use, so both were heart warming.

Re: Fragile

That's good to hear @Appleblossom .

I'm still easing back into concert-going after Covid. I'm wary of night travel as my eyes aren't up to it but have caught a couple of afternoon concerts lately... it's beyond me why they'd be called matinees.

I meant to garden today but I lost track of the time. Over the weekend it will likely be a dance around the showers.

Very tired right now, still processing a small family gettogether, a changeover of support worker and an infrequent debriefing with my psychiatrist.

Re: Fragile

lol matins means morning. Good one @Dimity

That made me smile. I am a girl who studied reflected on the liturgy of the hours.

I have not done many concerts for a few reasons. I did join a jazz club last year ... for me to enjoy music. Started going with a support worker. Somehow separate it out from pressure of work or earning money. It costs $15 and is local, has a good range of trad jazz bands. People sit at large tables and share food. There is a dance floor and some very elegant dancers. Its on this weekend. Still feeling fragile, but a lady from the church who is making good friendship with me is also going.

There is a problem with being seen socially with support workers. 2 people who have seen me with them have started talking down to me. I have stopped having my support worker cos she became too bossy and started telling me what to wear and wear to stand in the street ... too often. Once or twice "stand there" is fine, but I started to feel like an idiot. In peer work I do they suggest let her go. She also wanted to shop more than I did. She was nice in other ways, but infantilising me is not going to be helpful.

Re: Fragile

Concert tickets are so expensive they're a rare luxury for me @Appleblossom . I used to indulge in a subscription series. The concert I went to a couple of weeks was free. I've flirted with Liturgy of the Hours several times but never kept it up. Not really sure of the distinction between Christian meditation and and centring prayer. On an old phone I had a lovely mp3 timed meditation opening with John Main's invocation and closing with a Margaret Rizza chant... after losing it just setting an alarm as a timer never cut it.

I've enjoyed nature walks that would have been inaccessible to me without the help of my support worker.

Sorry you're still fragile. But perhaps less overwrought. The jazz outing with congenial company sounds good..Enjoy.
