Fragile

Fragile

For a while I have tried to find a thread I had started when I joined the forum that could be a "home" thread for me.

Being busy about the forum has been a coping style, where I can acknowledge all my different life experiences that had been silenced. Possibly do some good and prevent things from getting worse. Like the little boy with the finger in the dyke.

Re: Fragile

@Former-Member My son and I both know that. Him at some level, if not all the time. He carries the load

The CAT team said before his last episode (during my last episode) he just needed to feel some concrete, live rough a bit, etc., but the way things have panned out in last 6 months I dont think that is an effective or just approach.

Anyway now I guess I have to go through lots of complaints procedures for the way his case was handled. I have to put my own legal proceedings on hold to get clarity and calm.

Thanks again @Former-Member

One thing today. The counsellor said I was funny. Noone has said that before. I was not trying to be funny I was spitting tacks and on my hobby horse about to have a Centrelink tantie ...

Some birds to cheer me up. I am going through a birdie phase.

I have a meeting coming on Thursday due to me lodging a complaint about the way my son was handled at the Emergency Room in October last year.

If anyone has any advice I am open ...

Re: Fragile

@Appleblossom, If you haven't already, make sure you put your concerns in writing. Its mandatory that hospitals have Comlaints procedures & easily accessable forms re quality controls.

With the meeting, i think its important to:

- know what you want to achieve at this meeting. Think on this a while. I often aim to try change policy, but many just want to be heard or seek an apology, staff reprimand or even compensation.

- take with you a brief outline of things you want to raise in case you become flustered / stressed. And any relevant documents to refer to. Maybe even make a couple copies of your complaint.

- know your audience, not just names but their title / responsibilities.

Hope this helps a little. Stay calm and good luck. Be thinkin of ya ❤❤❤

Re: Fragile

@Appleblossom. I hope it all goes well next week and that you don't have to talk to the PA (receptionist) who called you Sweety or Darls.

Write down the points that you want to raise. So that you don't forget anything.

If you find yourself getting adgitated, take the time to take some deep breaths.

And yes, know what you want to achieve from this meeting and let them know that's what you expect.

All the best.

@outlander

Thank you @Former-Member @utopia it mattered that you both had worked in health care situations. I found out that my son is still actually in the same over arching service as the ED ... they hoped I would be pleased with the service from here on. I took a friend and she said that it went very well, that I won him (director) over and was professional. My mh worker said that they were taking it seriously as they were giving me a good audience. They apologised again. I worked towards a more forward looking attitude. They cant actually rewind my son's life and experience, but they agreed to supply a report and time will tell ....

Today I went 2 book launches. Keepoing busy and positive.
