Making order out of chaos

Making order out of chaos

hey forum

I think this a thread that I want to make because it is inspired by a book I'm reading at the moment

I think there is a lot of chaos in our lives due to mental illness so I think making a forum on things that work for us would be a good idea

I will start with an example from self care:

When I feel overwhelmed and worried and concerned about myself and my life I always must remember that I am better than where I ever was about 7 months ago

Re: Making order out of chaos

@Former-Member pretty much yeah.. The benefit of the past is that it's no longer here as @soul once told me..

When we realise the past is just the present moment to reflecting... I think we can get better.

Today's Lesson: Inner resolve to get through the trials and tribunal latin if life is something all of us have because of our MH conditions. It sometimes seems like the majority of people in the world are just more resolute than what we are. I think that this is wrong. I think that because of our MH we already know how to be resolute. Instead of thinking that I have to do something with MH problems.. I start to think that I can do something BECAUSE of MH problems. The problems give me an edge. Resolve is already there.
I am finding I need this more and more in my own life and journey due to recent events and discoveries but also because of my own progression in life.
In a nutshell, we are already resolute and it just a case of remembering this each time we go into battle

Re: Making order out of chaos

Hi @MDT thanks for tagging me on your post. Particularly valuable words for me today as I prepare for a case conference with Administrative Appeals Tribunal and lawyers for me and for NDIS doing battle later this week .... I will remember the word resolute as often as I can over the next few days. Thankyou for the lesson and the reminder.

All the best @eth
Dignity of mind and spirit is essential in those meetings. Keep a clear head 🙂
Thanks @outlander hope you are well today

Re: Making order out of chaos

Thanks @MDT I can only do my best on the day. It's hard to feel dignity when the process and outcome hinge on presenting worst case scenarios, past and present. But I'll try to use your words as a mantra. All I can do is remember to breathe and try to trust my team.

Re: Making order out of chaos

Hi @MDT, finally responding to your tag.

So I'm coming at this as a carer who's ended up with depression, and that is somewhat due to the unpredictability of the carer's role.

I was reading an article on ABC's online news page this morning about being self protective when giving of yourself, but it's not always easy to see how to do that. One of the best things I think I can do is make space for myself, which often translates to getting out in the garden, or the less productive distraction of computer games and social media...

Housework is a less attracive proposition, and being less enjoyable, it's harder to find the mental energy for it, so our physical surroundings are rather literally chaotic. I know having even a couple of rooms in the house ordered would do my state of mind a lot of good, but how to get there is the puzzle. I will be trying to tackle one room that I really want to get into order this week. It may end up being more than a weeks worth of work, but maybe if Hubby and I can make some visible progress it will be an encouragement.

Re: Making order out of chaos

Glad you are working through things so thoroughly in life. @MDT

I love what you said to @eth

Dignity and resolve and honesty about the level of vulnerability and trauma load when battling with mental illness.

Good Luck both of you.
