Good evening all. I hope your weekend has been nice. This evening I want to talk a bit about sacrifice and delay. I can't think of a better way to describe what I'm about to talk about so those two words will be best for now.
I think the challenge we face with MH lies in the importance of self care. Sometimes we have to take steps back from whatever it is we are doing, other times we need to force ourselves to do something. In these times we must delay and sacrifice momentary things for our longevity and health where things like safety behaviours, avoidance and the like can get us down. I sometimes think of psychology as a form of engineering of the human spirit because we are humans and we also spiritual/emotional beings too. I think we need to ariculate what works well for us individually, and what doesn't work for us. This is also the mark of a good psychologist I would say. In life we have to adapt to our various environments and MH can make this sort of adaption rather hard.
It kind of reminds me of the old phrase 'know thyself'
This is very hard, but the harder we try to understand ourselves the better idea we have of what can work and what can't work.
