Making order out of chaos

Making order out of chaos

hey forum

I think this a thread that I want to make because it is inspired by a book I'm reading at the moment

I think there is a lot of chaos in our lives due to mental illness so I think making a forum on things that work for us would be a good idea

I will start with an example from self care:

When I feel overwhelmed and worried and concerned about myself and my life I always must remember that I am better than where I ever was about 7 months ago

@MDT

I see a lot of myself in @outlander, we interact on a very loving caring & understanding level. I see this as positive even if we both have shocking body pain & MH issues to deal & cope with. We support & offer understanding help to each other. I suppose because we each other have a lived experience to a point of what & how it effects us & why we get emotional concerning this type of pain, how it actually limits our quality of life & living & even the fears & frustrations that go with it. I see this as positive, to be able to support with empathy & not just because we care & want to help its because to a point we know & live in that same manner. I hope what I wrote makes sense? As boy its hard to word & make it understandable, at least it is for me!
Love & hugs!
Bella xo 🙂

Hey there forumites. I haven't posted on here for a while. Today I just wanted to say something about the importance of stepping back.

I have had a positive experience on the forums overall, however I have discovered that I need to take a couple of steps back in terms of my usage. I wanted to share it here with a lot of people because I hope this is something that we can remember. Self care is vitally important with MH and MI and sometimes it's important to realise that taking a step back from something that is designed to help is actually a helpful thing to do.

Hope your days are going well forumites

Re: Making order out of chaos

Hey @MDT, wise words. It's good to pace ourselves on the forum, with some balance, as best we can. Sometimes it takes stepping away to find out where it really works for us in our lives. Hope to see you again though, where we usually see each other, at Friday Feasts. Best wishes with however much you are here or engaging more with life in the real.

Re: Making order out of chaos

Well said @MDT.
I used to put in a lot of time responding and checking on others in the Forum. Eventually it became roo much and I had to pull back.
Now I only respond to a few threads (like yours) & then once a month or so catxh up with older friends here.
I needed to do this for my own health. Just as you need to do it for yours.

Re: Making order out of chaos

So very true @MDT. Self care really is something of a first consideration in my life these days, it wasn't for a very, very long time.

It's still difficult to recognise what needs addressing as self care some times, too, as I'm sure it can be more many others. Fitting in with the wishes and plans of everyone around you might not be the best thing for one's own self care, and that's a hard thing to recognise, accept and then to follow through on opting out of when it best suits.

It's great to see you looking after yourself so wisely and with such self respect, and sharing your experiences with others so generously.

Thank you.
