Re: worries

Yes there are @Gthan - there are disability job search organisations that Centrelink should be able to tell you about. I don't know a lot about this as I've been unable to work for some years now. Others here may have more advice about that side of things.

Also, it is against the law for companies to discriminate against people with disabilities. If you are capable of doing a job and successful in getting it, it's then up to you if you tell them or not.

Re: worries

@Gthan there are threads on here called 'Tool box' and 'coping box' and 'a daily dose of mindfulness' that might help you. And making a list of things that help you feel good. I'm not the one to answer this question at this time as I'm just plodding through each day myself. Could be gardening, cooking, craft and art activities, researching on-line assistance available, even just coming on here and facebook pass some of my time. Keeping up with domestic and self-care needs passes time too. The Black Dog Institute has a good web-page with tools you can use. @utopia @Bunniekins @Queenie @Former-Member @Mazarita @outlander @Appleblossom @Faith-and-Hope maybe you can help here too. And anyone else who sees this post.

Re: worries

@Gthan. Go for walks. Explore your neighborhood. Go to the local swimming pool.Grow some vegetables. Borrow books from the library & read. Learn some new recipes. Spend time with your wife. Get to know each other again. Adult coloring in books. Drawing or painting. Talk to new people. Say 'hello' to strangers when on your walk. Get on Centrelink website and research.
Help your daughter with her homework. Or ask her to explain it to you.

Actually @eth, I don't have a separate thread for my NDIS journey. I just comment on existing NDIS threads.

Hello @Gthan

There are lots of great suggestions here. There are options and many ways to survive here wuth mental illness.

I had a friend who spent time between Sydney and Kerala. It is always hard to gauage quality of life when nostalgia and homesickness might come into the decision. He was a cartoonist and a great supporter of Leunig. He also did an expose on mental health conditions in India. Sadly, they were not comparable to Australia, though you might be able to access better yourself. I do not know. He died of a heart attack though he went back home.

My mothers family are also migrants and I do not think they ever regretted their decision to remain in Australia.

Take care
