Living with Ourselves

Living with Ourselves

hello @eudemonism @eth @outlander @Bunniekins @Mazarita @Silenus @NameUnknown @Grasshopper3 @patientpatient @soul @Former-Member @Determined @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Friendconnect @Teej @utopia @Queenie @Appleblossom @Zam @perseverer @Janna @Owlunar @Former-Member @Former-Member

First of all I wanted to let you know that I have conversed with all of you at some stage on both sides of the forum..

It was my intention to close two of my threads and change my name in the kindest way for all of you...

I commenced this process on the 12th March and today is the first day that I have access to actually post or respond to anyone....I was in the last couple of days able to register a new name and like some posts...

I am so sorry that my profile ended so abruptly that was definitely not my intention....

In fact if I had done it my way.. instead of thinking would be better to be guided through the process....I would have just written on one of my threads my reason for closing my account tagging you all in....then requested account to be closed and username put to bed so to speak

I have chosen to take this path in order to protect my family's sense of safety .. privacy...health..

Please let me reassure you that this has nothing to do with any members on here...

I have tagged each and everyone of you because you have given me support and invited me into a little of your worlds...priceless experiences...I have felt heard and valued on here....Thank you all so much..

Moving forward ...this is who I am now and hope to be able to converse on the forum living in the now not the past...therefore no mention of my previous username necessary...

If you do not know who I am...that is fine also...perhaps all of the above is not relevant for you..

take care

Re: Living with Ourselves

Thankyou @Adge

Rather small and hard to see the magnificence of the canal..

I loved revisiting them whwn I was in the Uk ..

some are not as picturesque as others...

fascinates me that they were a hub of business trade so long ago..

some of the old riverboats are beautiful...

I had. A conversation with a new owner when we went for a meal at Bourton on The Water...this man had retired three weeks before sold his home and bought a new lifestyle..

it was a beautiful old wooden one completely restored..

How has your weekend been? Any enjoyable moments?

Re: Living with Ourselves

Yes, those canals used to be used to transport goods in riverboats, like you said @Sophia1

There's no public holiday here today, unlike NSW. We had WA day public holiday, the previous weekend.

So today was a normal work day here.

A beautiful old riverboat fully restored, that sounds lovely.

The weekend was tough, I'm sorry to say.

I had someone follow me out from the supermaket all the way to my car, to beg money from me - for the 3rd time in 5 days (that was yesterday afternoon).

It's become too triggering, simply because it's happened so often in just a few days - & because I had struggled physically just to drive myself there (to the shops).

I had a meltdown over it, not recovered yet, felt very unsafe.

I like your elephant Avatar picture, it's really nice.

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hello @Adge

had to have dinner after I last wrote ..

then spent time chatting with husband...he had visited his two sons an families...my husband is now a great grandfather and a very proud one..

That sounds like a quite frightening ordeal when people follow you to your car begging for money..several days in a row would be disturbing..

I can only reassure you with words...As well as let you know that the ordeal is over now..

Is it a shopping centre or supermarket on it's own? If you feel up to it you could let management know about the recurring incident...That person will be noted if they continue to bother people..

are you working full time now?

Re: Living with Ourselves

good morning @outlander

hoping that your silence is about stepping back and looking after yourself....

can feel even more isolating....it does for me...then I remind myself that it is my choice ....taking steps to improve my health...putting myself first....(feels out of place as is not the usual )...following through without beating ourselves up...helps us for the next time...

Here I go rabbiting on as usual.....

As the title infers living with ourselves is not an easy task...we have to keep on learning about who we are and practising being in the moment with our emotions...

talking to others on here about these emotions especially when overwhelming helps the process....

they don't disappear or become easier to deal with over night...they do become less intense the more that we can do this...

some traumatic emotions are best discussed with specialist as well...

@Adge

Hoping that you had some peaceful sleep last night....

when are you next seeing your specialist? can you move your appointment foward or arrange for one sooner...important to talk about your experiences where you felt triggered....avoiding burying the feelings...part of your looking after you...

@Former-Member

I do hope that life is starting to settle in at least some areas in regard to your living and caring for your dad...I can't remember what your interests were...craft...knitting...crochet? sorry...my mind has become very foggy again....

@eudemonism

How was your weekend? did you manage to settle your thoughts for a time and allow yourself to enjoy your own company? what did you do?

@Owlunar

Are you still observing the stars in the sky? I didn't have the mindset at the time when you did start your thread....

yet another thing that I forget to do ....look at the sky...

@Zoe7

how is your back now? did you receive your results from tests back? a diagnosis with ongoing treatment?

@Mazarita

How are you travelling? Has your medication started to behave? can you feel any benefits?

Re: Living with Ourselves

@Sophia1, hope your healing is moving forward. We haven't chatted for a while. I too tend to stick mostly to my own thread. I had an experience on the forum about a year ago that made me much shyer about where I go than I used to be. The new medication has started to make me feel better, especially less depressed than I was. But the sleep cycles are worse than on the old med, along with some other things. Just as I'm getting used to this new one though, I will probably be changing another med from this Saturday when I see my psychiatrist. All part of an ongoing change, hopefully leading to a halt to my weight gain (have gained 35-40kgs slowly over some years). Anyway, the process is not over yet, but I'm handling the instability fairly well nonetheless by mainly going with the flow of it, rather than resisting and getting too anxious about it. Thanks for asking how I am.

Re: Living with Ourselves

@Sophia1 The results showed a bulging disc, degeneration and arthritis in vertebrae in my lower spine plus and muscle strain. The fall aggravated the damage already there as well as straining my muscles and bruising from what I landed on. I beging physio tomorrow - which will be an ongoing thing for some time. The initial 6 appointments are under a chronic disease care plan with minimal gap in price but after that I need to find a way to cover the cost - private health will cover some...

How are you doing?
