Living with Ourselves

Living with Ourselves

hello @eudemonism @eth @outlander @Bunniekins @Mazarita @Silenus @NameUnknown @Grasshopper3 @patientpatient @soul @Former-Member @Determined @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Friendconnect @Teej @utopia @Queenie @Appleblossom @Zam @perseverer @Janna @Owlunar @Former-Member @Former-Member

First of all I wanted to let you know that I have conversed with all of you at some stage on both sides of the forum..

It was my intention to close two of my threads and change my name in the kindest way for all of you...

I commenced this process on the 12th March and today is the first day that I have access to actually post or respond to anyone....I was in the last couple of days able to register a new name and like some posts...

I am so sorry that my profile ended so abruptly that was definitely not my intention....

In fact if I had done it my way.. instead of thinking would be better to be guided through the process....I would have just written on one of my threads my reason for closing my account tagging you all in....then requested account to be closed and username put to bed so to speak

I have chosen to take this path in order to protect my family's sense of safety .. privacy...health..

Please let me reassure you that this has nothing to do with any members on here...

I have tagged each and everyone of you because you have given me support and invited me into a little of your worlds...priceless experiences...I have felt heard and valued on here....Thank you all so much..

Moving forward ...this is who I am now and hope to be able to converse on the forum living in the now not the past...therefore no mention of my previous username necessary...

If you do not know who I am...that is fine also...perhaps all of the above is not relevant for you..

take care

Lovely words of gratitude @Emelia8

Not having the words can help you also as a reminder to look after you.

Sending you love

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @Sophia1

Yes so far I've kept the Sugar Bowl (without a Lid) - don't really see the point, not much use without a Lid.

Goldfinch purchase was just once, last Sunday.

I was on their "Phone me if you get Goldfinches" (contact) List - Yet they never phoned me.

They said they phoned a pile of other people - Yet had no record of my Name or Phone number....

Sounds far too familiar - This sort of thing happens to me a lot.

It was sheer luck/ providence that I phoned (about something else), then found out that they had them.

So I went straight out there & bought them - The 1st time in 18 months that any Bird Shop had any Goldfinches available.

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hello @Adge

Wonderful news that you were able to purchase some goldfinches finally.

Possibly Covid creating havoc with transport a reason for no availability?

Main thing is that they are there with you now.

Do you keep them inside your home in a cage or underneath a verandah or shaded area?

As for relying on businesses to ring back, I can assure you that you are not alone there at all.

After service is one of the largest failures of customer service within so many businesses; both small and large.

This is what I form my opinion on these days. It is very easy to sell something with a smile (even this not always the case). Money being handed over.

Asking for help after is the real test.

Enjoy your new family members.

Do they have names?

Sophia 💛 a yellow heart for you today representing sunshine

Hello @HenryX

I was just trying to catch up on your writings.

It takes so long though for me to traverse through different threads and posts trying to read back.

I have been on the forums already today far too long.

You tagged me to thank me for a post that you had written about counselling/ therapy I think?

I can't find the piece that you wrote.

Groan no surprise for me.

I would be interested to read your post though if you would not mind leading the way so to speak.

I see that you have made several friends which is lovely.

Oh is the piece of writing about counselling around the fact that thanks to the forums you have now started sessions? I just remembered that post as I was writing.

I am quite an odd creature really. I read my own words as I write and listen to my own words as I speak. I freefall when I write. The words come tumbling out in a flow.

My writings probably read that way as well.

Does any of that resonate with you or make sense to you?

I feel that you might be a deep thinker also behind your style of writing.

I read that you have the symptoms of a cold.

I hope that you have been able to source having a covid test regardless of living in a small town.

I also live in a small town.

I have to organise having a covid injection also.

So reading what you have written and responding in kind has reminded me that I must ring my doctor's surgery and find out when I can.

Thank you

Look after yourself.

Sophia 💛 A yellow heart for you also, to bring sunshine into your life.

It is so cold......

@Sophia1

Hello Sophia1

I understand that we can easily be on the forum for considerable amounts of time, barely aware of it until a glance at the clock gives us a 'timely' reminder.

The posts that I had written about counselling/therapy were from:

27 Jun 2021 02:05 PM on the thread “Re: Let's talk about Bipolar”

You have referred to part of the post, so may already be aware of it.

While your writing is more, as you describe, more free-flowing, tumbling, I think that my style is rather structured. Which is not to say that either is better or worse, right or wrong, they are simply different styles. That is what, I think, keeps us interesting to one another, individually and generally.

Thank you for your discussion and reflection on what I have posted from time to time Sophia. I enjoy your comments and appreciate the sentiments and suggestions that you include in your observations.

With My Best Wishes

HenryX

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @Sophia1 A Yellow Heart for Sunshine is Welcome...

Numb toes & semi-numb fingers seem to be the thing, for this season (many days).

Border Closures & restrictions on Transport, due to Covid - Was the Only (sole) reason that no Goldfinches were available here.

They are in small Roofed Aviaries in my Backyard - with Shade Cloth Sail above, to reduce heat on Aviaries in Summer, & to give me a little shade (to stand under).

I have no Verandah at the back - although there is a small Porch (tiny Verandah), at the front of house.

I have some Canaries, Fisher's Lovebirds, Peachface Lovebirds, Budgies, & one Cockatiel inside (large cages), chattering away.

Chasing After-Sales Service I do not do well (or often) - I usually give up on it.

Sorry, no names (as such) - Just "How do I tell you apart"? "You're all Gorgeous", "Very Cute, Which one are you"? etc

It's easy when it's a Species where the males & females look very different (eg Red-Billed Firefinches, or Orange Breasts) - Then it's "Hello Mr Firefinch", "Hello Mrs Firefinch", etc.

The Barbary Doves look so alike that I cannot easily tell which ones are the original pair (now) - They had 10 baby doves, all adult doves now.

My favourite is the Red-Faced Parrot-Finch (my Avatar picture) - Very active birds, fast-fliers, gorgeous singers (trillers).

I have 3 of them in Aviary.

I can hear my Canaries singing (outside) & the Red-Faced Parrot-Finches trilling (outside) - From inside the house.

My house would be too quiet & empty without them.

Thank you @HenryX

Yes I agree with how you have worded our individual styles of conversing on the forums.

Difference definitely more interesting.

I certainly would not want to be writing to a clone of myself.

Keep on writing.

Re: Living with Ourselves

Oh wow that sounds divine @Adge

Living amongst birdlife in song.

I imagine it to be like living amongst real life art with so many varieties and colours of birds inside and out.

I managed to get out for a walk today in my park opposite our home.

Note that I refer to it as mine.

I was cheerily saying hello to everyone I met during covid lockdown yet at the same time annoyed by the number of loose dogs jumping up at me.

I love dogs. I love patting them, talking to them. being with them. However, I do not like a dog that I do not know jumping up at me suddenly. I am still triggered by a serious dog bite when I went overseas several years ago. The dog would not let go of my wrist and had to be separated by his owner. My cousin.

The park has many species of birds and we have been hearing kookaburras moving around the larger gum trees near the creek. They have also visited our heritage gum tree. They have such an incredible sound. They bring much joy.

Your birds would set a wonderful magical feeling within your home.

They would certainly keep you busy as well.

ps I have reynaud's disease and today I came in late from the garden. My hands were frozen. I put them into very hot water and burst a blood vessel in my finger. This has occurred several times. Have you ever experienced this?

My mum has it so it is hereditary.

Raynaud's Disease and Poor Circulation Connection

In response to: Re: Living with Ourselves

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @Sophia1

Yes, unknown Dogs jumping up at me gives me a terrible Scare (too).

Being bitten does sound very scary - I'm so sorry to hear that happened.

I don't remember a dog actually attacking me - Yet my worst traumas are Blanked out.

Amnesia due to intense traumas - So I don't remember the worst of them.

Though I do know enough about what happend - & some people who saw things happen (who were there), told me exactly what they saw.

I don't get any Singing Birds in my backyard, though Honeyeaters coming to the Grevilleas I planted is Lovely...

So my own Bird Chorus of Canaries etc Singing is the Best Thing, Lovely to Hear - Couldn't do Without them....

I've not had any Diagnosis for Raynaud's Disease - Yet:

"However, the most common symptom of Raynaud’s disease is color changing of the affected areas. Hands can turn almost blue in response to the poor blood circulation, which decreases the amount of oxygen being distributed to the affected areas."(From your Article/ Link)

- Fits me on a regular basis.

Several times this week, in fact.

Virtually all of my fingers (on both hands) turned Blue, & lost circulation & any feeling sensation.

Usually it's exposure to the Cold outside that does it.

Sometimes it's clenching the Steering Wheel of Car, whilst Driving that does it.

I had to go to some efforts, for 20 minutes or more, to restore circulation & feeling sensation in fingers.

Warm water on fingers works best & fastest - Yet not too hot, or that makes it worse, maybe causes a burn.

It has been worse recently, much harder to restore circulation (fingers very blue) - I don't know why.

Busting a blood vessel, that hurts, not nice at all - Ouch....
