Living with Ourselves

hello @eudemonism @eth @outlander @Bunniekins @Mazarita @Silenus @NameUnknown @Grasshopper3 @patientpatient @soul @Former-Member @Determined @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Friendconnect @Teej @utopia @Queenie @Appleblossom @Zam @perseverer @Janna @Owlunar @Former-Member @Former-Member

First of all I wanted to let you know that I have conversed with all of you at some stage on both sides of the forum..

It was my intention to close two of my threads and change my name in the kindest way for all of you...

I commenced this process on the 12th March and today is the first day that I have access to actually post or respond to anyone....I was in the last couple of days able to register a new name and like some posts...

I am so sorry that my profile ended so abruptly that was definitely not my intention....

In fact if I had done it my way.. instead of thinking would be better to be guided through the process....I would have just written on one of my threads my reason for closing my account tagging you all in....then requested account to be closed and username put to bed so to speak

I have chosen to take this path in order to protect my family's sense of safety .. privacy...health..

Please let me reassure you that this has nothing to do with any members on here...

I have tagged each and everyone of you because you have given me support and invited me into a little of your worlds...priceless experiences...I have felt heard and valued on here....Thank you all so much..

Moving forward ...this is who I am now and hope to be able to converse on the forum living in the now not the past...therefore no mention of my previous username necessary...

If you do not know who I am...that is fine also...perhaps all of the above is not relevant for you..

take care

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @Sophia1

I love everything you have posted here - please keep tagging me

One question that I always ask myself is why so many women have problems with seeing how valuable they are - somewhere through life they have been neglected emotionally and those words stick - and it is really hard to get past

My mother was into this - I could not please her - I got into a way of trying too hard - I found my way out of her trap after she died and I realised I had no need to have a lack of self-esteem - I had done positive things with my life but really didn't see that until she was out of the way

The words that have the most impact are those our mother says - and we hear her voice from before we were born -

This isn't true of all women - I must remember that - but there are so many women who just don't see their value

So I had plenty of time to write this - or rather think about writing it - my screen kept freezing - I turned the computer on and turned it off and turned it on and turned it off and finally I think I have rebooted enough

And here's my contribution

We are unique and worthwhile - it is worth celebratingWe need to practise being unique - it is wonderful being unique - it's really the only thing we all have in common

Hello @Owlunar

Yes the role of mother does have a lot to do with self esteem....

as does husband/partner...

I am past all of that now...

I have a loving husband who treats me with respect....My sister has told me that I am lucky to have found someone like that...I responded with yes I am ....he is lucky to have found someone like me...

So there it is in a nutshell....My self esteem is climbing back up..

The nasty...dreaded depression has started to lift....I have had more energy today...

I am still on alert though...

So pleased to read that you enjoy being on this thread....a very nice feeling....love having you here too as with others...

computers can be a pain in the proverbial....we are stuck with them for now...

Do you have a date for your trip yet?

You must be feeling more excited each day...

Take care

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @Sophia1

I wasn't feeling depressed over the weekend but definitely flat and I blame the weather for that - and I am glad your depression is lifting - it's no fun at all being dragged back by our own selves - as if our own bodies are letting us down in some way

I finally got my ex to leave a long time ago now - nearly 30 years - and I was a different person after I finally moved out of the house - it is only a couple of blocks from where I live now and I went passed there last week - not my intention - the taxi-driver insisted on going that way though I wanted to go up a different street - I really don't like going passed the house even after all these years

My marriage was sad rather than bad - I think my ex was depressed and lost in some way - I will never know - I often wonder about him in a curious sort of way - if he was at all dissatified I have no idea of knowing how or why because he was so silent - he found it really hard to talk

There is something to be said for living with someone before marriage - how can we know what a person is like to live with until we share an establishment with them

It was was relief to start life on my own - I had a completely different social life from my ex - but getting separated and divorced and the property settlement is always messy and I was - still am - surprised at how nasty it all was - not my nature at all but we have to stick up for ourselves

We need to value ourselves - I do now and I am glad you have a husband who loves and respects you

I will be going away the week after next - I have a few things I must do before I go and I am looking forward to it - it will be great to get away from Melbourne weather for a few days
