Living with Ourselves

Living with Ourselves

hello @eudemonism @eth @outlander @Bunniekins @Mazarita @Silenus @NameUnknown @Grasshopper3 @patientpatient @soul @Former-Member @Determined @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Friendconnect @Teej @utopia @Queenie @Appleblossom @Zam @perseverer @Janna @Owlunar @Former-Member @Former-Member

First of all I wanted to let you know that I have conversed with all of you at some stage on both sides of the forum..

It was my intention to close two of my threads and change my name in the kindest way for all of you...

I commenced this process on the 12th March and today is the first day that I have access to actually post or respond to anyone....I was in the last couple of days able to register a new name and like some posts...

I am so sorry that my profile ended so abruptly that was definitely not my intention....

In fact if I had done it my way.. instead of thinking would be better to be guided through the process....I would have just written on one of my threads my reason for closing my account tagging you all in....then requested account to be closed and username put to bed so to speak

I have chosen to take this path in order to protect my family's sense of safety .. privacy...health..

Please let me reassure you that this has nothing to do with any members on here...

I have tagged each and everyone of you because you have given me support and invited me into a little of your worlds...priceless experiences...I have felt heard and valued on here....Thank you all so much..

Moving forward ...this is who I am now and hope to be able to converse on the forum living in the now not the past...therefore no mention of my previous username necessary...

If you do not know who I am...that is fine also...perhaps all of the above is not relevant for you..

take care

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @Sophia1 That sounds like a type of Stork (waterbird).

Although I can't look it up in my bird book, without a picture (or name).

Long legs & long beak definitely sounds like a stork or wader-bird.

Daily fatigue due to sleep apnea (& supposedly a symptom of CPTSD as well) often leaves me exhausted. I can talk to express myself when fatigued - but it's much harder for me to write (type).

So quite often I sit at the keyboard (computer) for ages, attempting to write a forum reply to someone - yet my mind is numb, nothing comes out.

So I have to give up, & leave it till a better time (out of self-care) - which is very frustrating.

That's why I cannot be wordy or "waffle on" (as they say) - I've not energy or inclination for that. I have to be pithy, & say what matters in just a few words.

I always wished I had the "gift of the gab" (as they say) - then I would do so much better at public speaking (or get a job promotion).

The people who got promotions at work were always the ones who could speak well of themselves to others (I noticed)...

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hello @Adge

I have always liked your responses....succinct and to the point...

I am the waffler...

possibly some people do not even read everything that I write it is so lengthy at times...

there are many occasions where I do not have words or energy...

at times I just stay in the background or even away...

I know that you do have fatigue and that would make it even more difficult...

My depression weighs me down and is back today after I thought that I had kept it at bay...

the nature of the beast...

I know that I have not slept well...had interrupted sleep...husband snoring or restless...I am obviously not in a deep sleep either...even though I take a sleeping tablet every night as I had insomnia for a long time...

you do write caring responses and informative....

you do matter...

I tried looking for a picture of the bird....if I see them tomorrow I will try to remember to take a photograph and attempt to download it on here...I have seen them before...they are probably very common ...just my description is misleading...

trying to google a bird with a brownish grey body...long legs....and some yellow on it's head with a long beak brings up everything but the bird that I am looking for on google..

well off to bed now...attempt to get some of that sleep...

sleep apnea would be difficult...my sister has that and uses a machine...I think that it is fairly common these days...something that is now being diagnosed...not on the radar before so to speak...

hope that you have a restful night...

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @Sophia1@Maggie@outlander

My sense of humour is something I value - it's a gift and I have written satire in the past - that can be difficult to read too - I love it when people "get" it

My brother - yes - he is not a happy man - I remember us being so close when we were young - we would catch the same train home from work in the city and we had a record of Stan Freeburg called You don't have to be Jewish and we would repeat bits of this to each other and other people started joining in - and it was fun - the things I did in my youth -

And not so long ago either - it's only a year ago since I joined the buskers at Circular Quay for a couple of songs - they wanted me to stay but no - I did enough and walked away feeling great and I don't think I would be so brazen in Melbourne

But yes - I don't want to chase my brother up now but I am glad for this insight - I think he life has always been disappointing

And yes Maggie - I do like it in this thread - it's called Living with Ourselves and I do - I live alone and glad of this because I enjoy my own company and also - I have to live with the life I have lived - sometimes it has been shadowy - and here we are

Outlander - Companion Cat was sitting right beside me and I told her you said "Hi" but she has moved off. In her old age she has learned that there is not much future when I sit at my computer

I'm sure I have missed something here but yes - my trip has refilled my tank and I am looking forward to it

And hopefully my serve of the Dreaded Lurgie has passed - I asked the nurse at the clinic about it and there are several weird bugs about - some people go to the clinic for The Lurgie because they need a note for work but I just took a couple of days off and sorted out the programmes on my DVR to delete a few

Back later

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hello @Owlunar@Adge @outlander @Former-Member @Shaz51@Maggie

I called the thread this name as I know that anyone struggling with an unwell mind has to learn how to cope with living with themselves...

so to include everyone I decided on living with ourselves...

I was also aware that it actually covers many situations in our lives....

getting to know more about ourselves...

learning to accept things that we like and don't like...

learning to accept what we cannot change...

learning to accept that those who do judge us are unhappy with themselves ...

learning to accept that some days we just only need to breathe and notice that we are at one body and mind..

learning about ourselves as an ongoing process to better understand ourselves...less self judgement..

I can go on forever...

enough for now

Thank you for the likes @CheerBear and @Zoe7

anything to add?

Re: Living with Ourselves

Nothing really to add @Sophia1 - I think you have described it all very well.

Often 'Living with ourselves' is super hard but we all need to find some way to do that and not let outside factors determine who we are - tht is the challenge with MI at times - especially when we don't get the support needed.

Keep up the dialogue here @Sophia1 - always interested to see how you are travelling

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hello @Adge

I have repeatedly tried to take photographs of the newly discovered birdlife...as soon as I get near a door or window they fly off....

I am not wearing hob nailed boots either...ugg boot slippers actually...

I have attached a photograph found courtesy of Professor Google...

I think that they might be plovers...

hope that you are having some pleasant days....

Re: Living with Ourselves

Oh Plovers @Sophia1 That might make sense.

Thanks for your lovely pictures.

I have the same difficulty - I hear lovely little birds tweeting in the bushes often.

They rarely come out to show themselves.

Even the finches in my aviary never sit still long enough for me to count them - which is why I'm never quite sure of the exact numbers. Was that 10 Zebras, or was it 12?...

My Date (coffee meetup) for this morning cancelled permanently - I had not met her yet.

She sent me a text message at 5.30am, to say that she's not ready to meet anyone (or Date).

I'm trying not to take it personally - even though she was the first compatible person to be interested, in a long time.

I'm trying to put myself out there - yet find it difficult to meet people through online dating.

I'm in danger of becoming too dissilusioned, & of giving up on it.

Like happened years ago, after much perseverence.

Goto give myself a hug (if that's possible).
