Seeking mutual support from carers

Seeking mutual support from carers

Reaching out to others who are in a caring role. I look after my mother with multiple health issues, including depression and anxiety. I feel stuck. I can see the signs that the depression has reared its head but my mum doesn't see it. I really struggle when my mum's mental health suffers. I too battle with depression and anxiety. Emotionally, I am all over the place. Hoping there are some others out there who understand what I'm going through.

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

Hi @Bella1978 so sorry - yes, Safe Haven is my thread on the forum here.

Taking care of your mum takes patience hey. Just wondering if the night time med provides her with something specific so that she feels like she would like to have it before she's supposed to? Does she say why she wants it - not that I need to know, just wondering if she recognises things about herself and her condition, but wouldn't want or know what or how to get that across. Just wondering ....

Thinking about keeping things calmer, can you fib about the tab? Tell her she's getting that one or does she recognise them?

Today is a very quiet day here. Not got the anythings needed to get to my crafting, have been sitting tidying my desk and a couple of document storage areas. A full bag of paper rubbish to go out to recycle bin.

I'm so disjointed I think it's taken me nearly an hour to finish this post.

@Former-Member

hello hello 🙂

ah okay luv, will have to check out your thread.

yes, it takes patience. as for the medication she wanted, she said she is feeling the same way she did when she went to the psych on tuesday so she wants the med. i said to her 'you told me you were feeling fine on tuesday, so i dont undersatnd, how are you feeling?' she wouldnt explain to me how she was which makes it difficult for me to help her. she said she feels agitated and wants to sleep. but she has a benzo that she can take for that - and that is PRN. i asked her if she wanted it and she flat out refused. but i wasnt going to give in as i need to do what is right for mum. nah, can't fib, she recognises the tablets - that is thanks to me lol ... once a week we sit down together and i get her to help me put her meds in her container so she understands what she is taking.

well done on tidying up, it feels good to declutter doesnt it? its amazing how much stuff we can accumulate over the years!

i have my table and chair all set up in the veranda to do my grouting, im a bit excited hehe. will probably do it tomorrow 🙂

Your set up sounds a lovely place to work at @Bella1978.

Hoping things with you mum are going okay, and you're doing okay too. A quiet day again for me.

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

That is exactly why I am checking @Bella1978, stressful situations can play havoc on us as carers.
