Seeking mutual support from carers

Seeking mutual support from carers

Reaching out to others who are in a caring role. I look after my mother with multiple health issues, including depression and anxiety. I feel stuck. I can see the signs that the depression has reared its head but my mum doesn't see it. I really struggle when my mum's mental health suffers. I too battle with depression and anxiety. Emotionally, I am all over the place. Hoping there are some others out there who understand what I'm going through.

good morning @CherryValentine

nah, no walkies yesterday - didnt go anywhere actually, chilled a bit, spent some time on these forums and some bits around the house. but thats okay. needed a slow day so all good.

i need to go the shops this morning. i wake up with an anxiety chest pain in the mornings of late, so am taking it easy, it eventually passes and then i'll go to the shops. just cant deal with it when i feel like that. as i know you understand that feeling.

oh luv, im so sorry about you stroke. good that you have regular check ups and sounds like everything is on track which is good. my mum had a stroke at the beginning of last year, which is when her health started going downhill. poor luv.

well done on healthy cooking. it does help our state of mind when we eat healthy. and yep, work on one thing at a time, try get into a good routine with eating and then incorporate exercise into it.

yes, i am enjoying my mosaicing. my candle holder is ready to be grouted, i like to leave the grouting for at least 48 hours after i glue on all the coloured glass. will post a pic when its completed! already thinking about my next project hehe

you have a great day luv and i hope to hear from you soon.

good morning @Former-Member

sorry i didnt get back to you yesterday, how has your day been so far?

see, you did mosaicing and you didnt even know it! hehe

i just need to grout my candle holder and will then post pics.

yes, mum went to the pdoc with me which i was relieved about. my uncle convinced her to go.

yes, it is hard as i am so close to mum but i do need to make sure i dont take it personally - thats when i get very emotional and hard to focus on supporting her. you make a very valid point as it must be hard for her.

i must admit the mental health clinic mum gets admitted to is like a hotel lol ... i wouldnt mind having a break there myself! but you are right, she doesnt want to be there, she wants to be at home. this is her home and it is where she wants to be. thank you for reminding me that she is going through so much herself. i sometimes get caught up in my emotions and want to 'fix' the situation that i lose sight of how my mum is feeling, so thank you luv.

what do you have planned for today? i do hope you have a nice day ahead of you!

xx

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

Hey there @Bella1978 - thank you for your very kind wishes, much appreciated.

Heh, yeah, my mind sometimes has these weird little twists to find ways to reuse and fix things.

Yeah, with the mosaicing, hey. How about that! I find the grouting messy and I really dislike getting my hands all 'gooey' with stuff. I really wanted to learn pottery years ago (ended up not) and that's as messy as it gets really, so I'm just weird.

It is really difficult not to try to 'fix' something for someone you care about. Sometimes venting is all that's needed.

Not much, not anything really, planned for today ( see Safe Haven), just trying to veg and get this infection better really.

I hope you have a really pleasant day.

i do the same thing, if i find something that i could reuse, i'll keep it in my crafts cupbard and then when i feel crafty i'll have a looksies and see what i find. i forget half of the stuff i have in there lol

when i watch mosaicing grouting videos for tips they always say it is the best part ... meh, it is messy and i am so pedantic when i do it. it does complete the mosaic though. i tried pottery once - yup, very messy haha!

what is safe haven? is that a thread on these forums? i managed to get some stuff done, went shopping, chemist, put petrol in the car. came home and mum wanted me to give her her night time tablet - the anti-psychotic. i explained that it was for the evening, not during the day. she has another med that she can take for anxiety and to help her relax. she didnt want that, got upset with me ad went to bed. she's sleeping now. so im not in her good books at the moment lol

feeling tired atm as i didnt sleep very well last night. i hope you are having a good day. are you crafting??
