Re: Seeking mutual support from carers
That is lovely @Bella1978. The candle holders are really beautiful with the light of the candle glowing through those colours. Lovely, lovely work. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Do you work on a Lazy Susan to help you turn? I guess that might be tricky too.
I did some tile work, which is different from mosaic work as you'd most likely know, when a teenager.
The tiles, tiny, tiny things, came on a sheet of string stuff to keep them in place. I covered a bottle for a lamp shade base, but I never really liked it much.
The tile work is not as creative as the mosaic work which is probably why I didn't enjoy it much, the work was done, all you had to do was cut it to shape and grout - not much fun in that for me.
seeing other people's craft work is so inspiring, glad you're getting the urge to do more with your crafting!

Aaaw thanks! yep, the candle holders are beautiful, but can be tricky to mosaic as it is a round surface. just takes longer than mosaicing on a flat surface. coasters are more straightforward but with those there is painting involved too. but its fun. but grouting is so messy bleh hehe
it sounds like what you did was mosaicing - you cut the tiles, glued them on the lampshade and grouted yes?
i do like to be creative with it though, use different colours. i buy large sheets of glass and then cut them down to size and away i go hehe ... ive actually been doing a little bit for the past hour. but yeah, i glue some glass on and then need to let it set, then can do a bit more. im really glad that ive got the motivation for it again. it is inspiring seeing others crafts! i love doing crafts cause i can tap into my creative side.
how has your day been? mine not great. took mum to her psych (after her brother convinced her to go. i feel like chop liver at the moment - nothing i say seems to make a difference with mum). do you care for someone with mental health issues SunShower?

@Bella1978hi - just checking in - I hope things are settling down for you and your mum. I like the strategies that @outlander sent through. Sending hugs

@SusanaI have been offline for a few days. That sounds tough with your mum but also the right thing. How are you bearing up? It can take a toll. I am heading away for a few days as a belated easter - I find being away from my normal routine can be a great thing.

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers
@outlanderI thought your tips sounded great. I don't have a thread atm. I went through a lot over Xmas New Year with my mum, but thankfully things have settled and I am just taking a breather. For me, just getting out into the country can be a great way of switching off for a while. I am taking a late easter holiday this weekend and I cant wait.

@Shaz51 @Former-Member @Determined @Faith-and-Hope @Susana @merri @Catcakes
hello 🙂 how are you all?
hope you dont mind me asking, but just want to pick your brains. mum's mental health is declining (she has gotten worse since being discharged from hospital last week). my uncle can also see it. anyway, i took mum to her psych today. he saw mum on her own and her version of how she is feeling is different to what i am trying to explain to him. i see mum everyday and i can see that she is slipping. he told me that if my mum doesn't recognise she is depressed then he can't do anything. he doesn't seem to think she is either. im at a loss. as her daughter and carer, i am concerned and dont want to see her deteriorate, and i can see she is not herself. plus she was different when talking to the psych - not how she is at home. her psych said until mum gets worse or acknowledges she needs help, he cant intervene. he has prescribed her an anti-pschotic to take (similar to what she was on in the past) but in terms of hospitalising her he wont do that. she isn't a harm to herself or others. is this how the mental health system works though? i understand my mum has rights. just wondering though if a family member or carer can see something isn't right, do they have any rights themselves in protecting their loved one? thanks in advance x
