Re: Seeking mutual support from carers
yeh it was a blindspot on my way to work and it was a very quick reaction to avoid a head on with a big water tanker truck. i went to hospital i was actually walking around and functioning as i called my mum but the truckie called an ambo and they took me. i had bad whiplash and wanted to be monitored for concussion as i didnt know if i hit my head on the sterring wheel. i ended up crashing and sleeping almsot an entire day from it but other than that was ok. @Bella1978
haha and my alarm is super loud!!
really wtf? why would people even do that! well i hope you got another apple! how rude of them!
um im not sure. they are telling me- had all 3 drs and a nurse tell me that it looks really bad but its not broken but if its tendons and ligaments then theres treatments like taping and things to help them as i have a 'swan neck' finger shape happening. when she compared my hands today. my bad fingers are almost 3 times bigger than my other hand. its frustrating indeed! ill give it till next week then ill go abck if its not any better. they said i need to take anti inflammes but i have a possible stomach ulcer so cant take them.
how are you goin anyway?

@outlander
im glad you didnt injury yourself too seriously when you had the car accident. good that the truckie called you an ambulance. poor luv! you need bubble wrap 😛
ouch - 3 times the size of your normal fingers?? that's gotta be painful! definitely don't take anti inflammatories if you have a stomach ulcer. i take anti inflammies on an ongoing basis for my rheumatoid arthritis but have been able to cut back which is good. my mum can't take any at all poor luv cause of her kidneys, she tries to manage her pain with over the counter stuff and heat packs. mainly her back and shoulder.
yeah, im doing okay luv. just laying in bed atm but think im gonna get an early night as i think tomorrow will be a long day - hopefully a good day but a long day! hehe
you gonna go nite nite soon?

lol how about this one? @Bella1978
yep very painful indeed esp with shooting pains, cramps, 'locking joints'. really annoying. they said soft tissue injuries can take a long while to heal but the sweeling should start to come down now so just monitoring it now. i was taking them for abit of arthritic type pain too but gone off them now. poor mum hey, bodies get put through thr ringer then get told options are limited.
do you find anything helpful for your pain when you need? as in heat packs, muscle rubs...
im in bed but i dont sleep lol. i havent been sleeping well for a long time with chronic insomnia since pretty much day one childhood.
im happy to keep talking as long as you need/want but also know you log off about now too.
i enjoy our late night (or not so late for you) chats

@outlander
haha we got 2 conversations going on at once!
i cant see the pic yet - it still looks like a triangle the silly thing lol
fortunately with the cocktail of stuff im on for my rheumatoid arthritis (RA) i rarely get pain - unless i overdo it - then i know about it haha! the things they can give to people with RA is amazing these days - treatments have come a very long way! they have adverse side effects which need to be monitored but fortunately ive been okay, touch wood!
oh thats the worst, not being able to sleep. when i started new anti dep meds i had really bad insomnia so i really feel for you luv
sorry to cut this short, omg im getting sleepy - getting old haha
i hope you do manage to get a good rest and look forward to chatting tomorrow!

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers
good morning @Bella1978
so glad your mum has improved , xx the kidney is amazing , and I try to listen to my body as my kidney tells me when sheis not feeling good -- people laugh when i say this
yes when the doctors give me a script for meds and when you go to the chemist an they say -- oh you can not take these is soo annoying but is good that they know
yes my kidney filter is not working so instead of the toxics going to the toilet , they go aound back in the body which causes a lotof other problems

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers
@Susanai too identify with the setting of boundaries. The last 5 years have been a bit crazy for my husband and I. My mum became extremely moody - she has always had ups and downs but this was more extreme - and she was recently diagnosed as bipolar. Looking back I think this was always there but mum said her mood swings were due to hypoglycemia. I found that when mum was down she couldn't make any decisions and wanted me to make all the decisions, but when she was elevated she became angry at my choices and badmouthed me to her friends and my brother. It was/is exhausting. Carers Vic were great in getting me to realise I couldnt fix all my mum's issues and also for getting me to set boundaries. This felt tough as mum was quite nasty when I put boundaries in place and I felt very guilty. However it was/is necessary. Are you seeing anyone who can give you some insights/ strategies. Look after yourself and remember the boundaries are good not just for you but for your mum also.

Today didn't go as planned. Mum shut down - said she doesnt want to come home. From a Psychiatric perspective she's been cleared so now they need to check her physically - she is feeling week and says she can't move. Oh boy.
@merri - what type of coping strategies helped you? Hows ur day?
@Susana - how r u?
@outlander - how r u? Mum not behaving *sigh*
Me thinks its gonna be a long day
