Re: Alone
Hello again @Kitten i hope today is being a better day for you.
I can understand how upsetting this is for you. Do you have friends outside of the family to whom you can talk openly about your situation?
It's important to talk to people who are able to give you good, straightforward, and accurate information, even though, for lots of reasons, you're not going to feel able to do that.
Without knowing the situation, it's really difficult to give good relevant advice, that's why it's important for you to talk to your health care people and be honest about what is happening. If you both share a gp and you're not sure about 'stuff', you could maybe see a different gp for yourself.
The absolute first thing to do is to get some support for yourself so you can get stronger. I humbly suggest you stop trying to make people understand, and start thinking of ways to change how you react (respond) to them.
I hope that is useful @Kitten. Keep writing here, talk to your friends, read about narcissism, talk to your gp, and believe in yourself. ![]()

Re: Alone
I thank you for checking in on me. Means a lot. I feel very flat today and very sad. My mind feels hazy if that’s a good away to describe it.
I have however emailed my psychologist and asked for an appointment and have made th decision that I will go and also talk to my gp this week.
I do have a couple of good friends but I feel like I bother them all the time with my problems and done want to do that to them.
I keep trying to be a bit more positive but it’s hard today. I am trying to organise myself for the week ahead. It seems an effort but I am going to do it. 🌻

Re: Alone
Hi again @Kitten
Yes, doing small things so that you are feel like you're making progress is wonderful.
I just wanted to let you know how to use some of the super duper cool things that the forum here lets you do. Do you get an email when someone @mentions you? Like when I write @Kitten ?
To make that happen, use the symbol @ and type the person's name in. don't put a space after the symbol, just keep typing the name but do spell it correctly.
and the person will get a notification and know you've mentioned them. Otherwise they have to come back to the thread to check.
If you use the Reply option instead of Quick Reply, a list of the names of the most recent people responding to that thread drops down and you can choose from that. (it doesn't give the drop down menu choices in Quick Reply)
YOu can set your subscription preferences by clicking on your user name (Kitten) at the top right of the page. When you click on it, you'll see it drop down so you can choose between "Your Profile" and "Your Settings".
To organise your notification feeds, go to Your Settings and mark it the way you'd like to have it. Mind you, you may not want to get emails if your devices are not private and you don't want any one to see the content of your emails. The notification will come through with the actual content of the message on the forum, so privacy would be something to consider if your email is on a shared device.
You can turn things on, or turn them off, have a read of stuff and if in doubt, email or phone the lovely people at SANE, they will help you through it.
The other one, Settings, gives you other options where you can find an image for your profile pic, and other things. Again, any wonderings, call or email SANE.
You're doing well, you're here, and communicating well, and working on doing things to get more support for yourself too. That's truly wonderful and hard to do sometimes too.
Might I suggest you make some notes (and keep them somewhere private as they are just for you), about what you want to let your gp and your psychologist know about your situation too, just so you get to cover it all when you're in there. I know it helps me.
You've taken the first steps, and followed up on them, to gaining something better for yourself. *thumbs up*
Try to do one thing, no matter how tiny, for yourself, each day. ![]()

Re: Alone
Me writing this to you right now proves you are not alone. I'm lying in bed in the dark, but for a candle, and I can hear people in my block of flats socialising or having a party or something this Saturday night and alone, I am, and don't quite know what exactly happened over the years to now leave me with not one single friend - that is a fact, not an exaggeration. I have only, only just survived raising my one and only son singlehandedly - utterly bereft of support - and he tells me he needed to survive ME, my mental illness. And sadly, that is true. I tried to shield him from the tragedy of my mind but he witnessed it and was affected by my severe unwell while I was in denial. I never never meant my son to suffer, much less suffer me, but he did, and now he is in his own life with a flat, a job, friends, and I'm here in the dark not connected to anyone, not really, and utterly utterly alone. No, you aren't alone, Kitten. I can only say, after all my years on this Earth, that suffering is life. That's all I can conclude.

Re: Alone
I hear you @EtMoi. I don't think there is anything that can prepare us for the life that lies ahead of us in any full and meaningful way.
I have come to accept that all we can do is to do our best with the knowledge and ability we have at any given time and to expect ourselves to know more than it would be humanly possible to know to do more than that is, well, just not realistic.
I trust there is some pleasantness you can find in your day or night @EtMoi and also @Kitten even if it's not the type of experience you were expecting, wanting or dreamt of. Sometimes the tiny wee things that others do for us are precisely what we have been wanting for ourselves, it's just that it comes in an unexpected package so we might be a bit swift on dismissing it.
Look after you as well as you can. ![]()

Re: Alone
You are not alone as you have been to write to. I would like to be in the dark with a candle it sounds so relaxing.
I am so proud of you for raising your son, what a tribute to you that he has succeeded to have a job and Home of his own and living his life, he could not have done that without you.
It’s now time for you to concentrate on you. Is there something you would like to do for yourself, no matter how big or small.
I do forget sometimes that I am lucky in many ways. We all loose sight of the good things we have sometimes. I know I have.
You have a friend in me and anytime you want to talk I am here. 😊

Re: Alone
Hello, @Kitten,
It has been comforting to hear back from real people, to not just be lying in the echoes of my mind, of my room. I appreciate it very much. I might come back here again, as last night was my first ever joining of the forum, and might see what others are up to - at least to expand my awareness, to not think myself as isolated as we end up feeling, when we don't connect to anything at all. So yes, I'll connect with this forum again, for sure.
