My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Hi @Snowie I'm glad that today had some wins

I'd be interested to hear more about the app, it should be okay to share if it's just a resource

Good on you for giving yourself this chill time to process and slow down for a little bit. It sound like you've been juggling so much recently

Re: My special place

Thanks @Ru-bee

I always feel overwhelmed if I schedule anything else on the same day as I see my psych. I have learnt from the past that I just need to make it a 'calm' day, a day without anything else on.

The app is called moovement. It is meant to help you feel less distressed and reduce the stress you feel in the current situation. Tried it out with my psych and will keep using it over the next few weeks. Not sure yet how useful it will be, but like anything, it is worth a try.

Re: My special place

That's a really good idea @Snowie, organizing a calm day around those appointments.

Interesting about the app, I'll be interested to hear how it goes! I'm always curious to learn about new helpful tools. I just tried looking it up and got a bunch of stuff about GPS cattle tags 😅 not quite what I was looking for, found it now though

Re: My special place

I've tried different apps in the past @Ru-bee some helped others didn't. Willing to give any of them a try if they will help.

I also never schedule my psych, pdoc and gp on the same day. I just find that too overwhelming and too much at once.

Re: My special place

hey just wanted to pop in @Snowie really glad to hear you felt a lil better after that psych sesh!!

hope you've been having a restful evening - also that app sounds interesting, are there any particular mental-health related apps that you've found helpful?

Re: My special place

Thanks @rav3n I'm so tired and just want to curl up in bed, but can't. Have to pick S up from work later on so need to stay awake. Just made a coffee, hoping that helps.

I've tried quite a few apps out there. There is one called Calm Harm. I use it when I have SH and Si urges. I find it does help. Not all the time, but at least it is something.

There is also one called White Noise Lite. It has all different noises on it from an air con, to stream water flowing, to rain on a roof. I normally use it if I wake up during the night and have trouble getting back to sleep and/or calming down after a nightmare.

I've tried some that didn't help but I guess it is just trial and error.

Re: My special place

ohh yep, hopefully that coffee's kicked in! @Snowie

those apps sound great, i'll definitely be checking them out - i've been to find something that helps with sleeping so that White Noise Lite app sounds perfect for me try out this week, thanks for sharing!! is there a particular sounds that makes you feel most calm?

yep i agree, definitely takes some trial and error - it's great that you gave them a go, fingers crossed the moovement app goes well.

Re: My special place

I know there are so many apps that can help @rav3n I guess it is just trying to work out what works for you/me. I like the thunder storm and the violet noise. I haven't gotten through all of them yet. They even have a vacuum cleaner you can listen too!!

Coffee has helped a little. I always hope he messages me to say pick him up early but it never happens. I just keep thinking in a years time he will be able to drive himself!!

Do you do much over the holiday period?

Re: My special place

yeah for sure! i feel like i haven't tried many apps related to mental health so i'm going to go down that path and give a couple a trial @Snowie i'm quite picky with my sounds so hopefully there's something in there that works, i love thunder storm and rain noises, mainly nature stuff. vacuum cleaner is an interesting one!

oh yes! my parents used to be the same, hoping i'd finish up early only for me to text them that i need to stay back another hour 😅 is S on his learners?

now that my sister's done with high school and she's working too, everyone in the house is busy working. but we do make time for a christmas/new years trip, usually within Victoria - we usually book an airbnb somewhere rural and stay with a couple family friends. this year though, nothings been planned yet, might have to figure something out last minute. how about you? still working on the decorations?

Re: My special place

I wasn't sure on the vacuum cleaner sound either @rav3n!! I like the nature ones too.

S is on his learners. His got about 11 months to go before he can go for his license so still awhile to go.

I hope you are able to get away with your family. It sounds like a nice time to just be able to get together. Sometimes when everyone is so busy with their own lives, just to make that time is so important. Memories that will last forever.

We normally go away every second christmas with friends, so this year we are at home. Will organise a few day trips to places but thats about it. Both kids will be working through the xmas period too.

Decos are all done, the house looks very festive!!

I don't really like xmas time that much. Too many bad memories, traumas, family spats, trying to met up with family and working around who's got which child when. It just becomes so hard.

I just smile and pretend like everything is ok. I want my kids to have memories that can be cherished for ever.
