My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

@Snowie I was at uni since around 8:30. On the train back now. I have peer review comments due, so I might just tidy those and then be done for uni for the day.

I totally get not wanting to go back. I acknowledge that it’s not easy to be away from your family, I hear you. Have you asked about outpatient options with your pdoc. There might be some outpatient programs

Re: My special place

That's a long day for you @creative_writer Hopefully you can have the night off and some time to yourself.

They do have an outpatient program and I have participated in it before. I have done DBT and various other courses through them. The only problem is that the EMDR program is only an inpatient program.

The other issue is that the hospital is a good hours drive away, and that it without battling city traffic.

Re: My special place

@Snowie at this point I don’t even care to adjust my comments, I think I’m just overthinking it, it’s only worth 10%.

It’s a shame they don’t have EMDR as outpatient in a nearby hospital. You’re in rural vic, aren’t you?

Re: My special place

As long as you get it done, that is the main thing @creative_writer

A pass is a pass regardless of the score.

There are nearby hospitals but no Mental Health Hospital. It is solely for MH only.

Yes I am in rural Vic.

Re: My special place

@Snowie it must make it harder to access mental health support. City traffic is awful, I wouldn’t drive to uni if I had my licence. I really need to get my license soon, but my health has been playing up 😞. I don’t want to drive with a migraine. I do sometimes get visual disturbances, even though they don’t last for long and I can still usually see well, it can be unpredictable when I’m sick. I have migraine today just from taking public transport today, a drive would be way worse. I feel like migraines put you at risk of motions sickness and vice versa. I am a germaphobe and I had to give up wearing masks when travelling because the nausea would get bad

Re: My special place

I can access MH supports @creative_writer but everything is at least an hour away. I travel an hour for my psych appointments too. At least those are in the opposite direction of the city.

Your migraines must make it hard to drive especially if you come down with them suddenly.

At least with public transport you don't have to worry about parking.

Do you think you will get your license soon?

Re: My special place

@Snowie you may have access to supports in the city, but it’s hard when it’s not closer. Travelling an hour or more is tiring. I did part of my placement from home because going to uni everyday wasn’t feasible. It takes an hour or a bit more.

Visual disturbance aside, migraines do affect attention. I’m hoping soon just need more practice . The public transport in my area isn’t all that great

Re: My special place

Just seeing my psych or pdoc is at least a half day outing. I have to set so much time aside just for an hour long appt. It really does take a lot out of me. That drive home is very tiring.

I hope you are able to get it soon and it is easier for you @creative_writer The only problem then is the money in petrol. D goes to uni 3 times per week and catches the train. The cost of petrol is just too high.

Re: My special place

@Snowie it would take a lot out of you. Do you ever do Telehealth appointments too?

Petrol is also very expensive and so is maintaining a car. If I did have my licenses I probably wouldn’t travel long distances and certainly not to uni. There is no way I’m driving in the city, and parking can be an issue. I would be stuck in traffic if I did drive. Don’t think it’ll be all that different from how long it takes me on public transport

Re: My special place

I never do telehealth appointments with my psych, they are always in person.

I do them with my pdoc at times depending on what time the appointment is.

Driving and parking in the city would be so stressful @creative_writer. And then one accident on the roads would mess things up even more. Public transport would be much easier and less stressful.

Will say goodnight hon. Going to have a shower and get into bed. Hoping an early night will be on the cards.

I hope you get some sleep tonight and tomorrow goes well for you.

Talk again soon 💗💗
