Something’s not right

My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

@Snowie, nah, that’s okay. I hope D has been doing well today.

I think there is this pressure that if you’re going into the helping field you need to have your shit together. I know it doesn’t work that way, but I feel the pressure. I have had number of times where I opened up but was shut down.

I think many people are coffee addicts. I can’t tolerate too much caffeine in a day or I get jittery (hence prefer matcha) but I know many people can have tons but be good. I would imagine quality coffee would taste way better than the instant coffee.

I’ve had my parents talk to me about marriage today. They showed me a guy but I don’t find him attractive. I’m not obliged to pursue. Do you think physical attractive is important for romantic relationships. I’m literally so confused and know nothing because I’ve never been in one. I haven’t ever met anyone. I don’t even know if I’m ace or if I just find relationships too scary

Re: My special place

I don't think anyone can have their shit together 100% of the time @creative_writer That is just totally unrealistic. We all have those up and down times. We all have those times where we need some support, that we need to rely on others to help/support us, whether that be on here or with our supports.

I hope you feel able to open up on here whenever you need it hon. No one should be shutting you down.

I don't think it is as easy as just getting with someone and marrying them. There has to be that connection there, physical attraction included. I hope your parents are not putting pressure on you to go down that path. Everyone is different and how they view marriage/relationships differs from person to person. What is important is that you are happy within yourself. I know people that are so happy in their marriage and I also know people that are miserable. I don't think marriage can define us.

Re: My special place

@Snowie the pressure of being the oldest child is also real. You kind of have to look after everyone else.

They are not pressurising me but they are looking for suitors, but I have already made up my mind I won’t marry anyone until I get to know them. Marriage is tricky and it’s scary. I want to make sure that if I do get married, I marry someone who will respect me and won’t see me as an object

Re: My special place

@creative_writer I totally agree with you. Marriage should be about respect. It needs to be something that both people want, not just because it is socially the right thing to do. I always tell my D that unless the other person respects you, they are not worth being with.

I find the pressure of being the only girl real. That I have to look after my mum and take her to her appointments. That I am the one she calls when she needs help. And it is getting worse lately, especially with her dementia. My brother does nothing, everything is left for me.

Re: My special place

@Snowie I think being a daughter can be tough since daughters often have to carry the emotional load. I’m sorry to hear about your mum’s dementia, though would be really tough 😔. Sending you hugs 🫂💖.

As much as I hate saying this, I’ve had moments where I felt the need to carry my mum’s emotional stuff. It doesn’t usually happen anymore, I feel like it’s so much better when I don’t share my emotions which might trigger her emotions. I have had moments where I heard my mum heightened to the point of SI, though it’s been a while since it happened last. My parents love each other but sometimes arguments can be a bit too much

Re: My special place

Thanks @creative_writer She has only been diagnosed this year so still in the early stages of it. I guess it is just a 'wait and see' what happens over the next few years/months. They really couldn't give us any time frame since it effects everyone differently.

It sounds like you are a wonderful support for your mum hon. She should be lucky to have you.

Re: My special place

@Snowie i wish you mum the best 💖. It’s hard watching someone go through with dementia.

I can’t blame mum, but there are times I wished I had someone there for me growing up. Hence why I tried to forget about the trauma till it caught up to me years later

Re: My special place

Its hard when we don't have people we can rely on when we are growing up @creative_writer

Even harder when our trauma catches up with us years later.

I just hope that you have people you can rely on now hon.

Re: My special place

@Snowie I technically do, but I often feel too guilty to reach out. The people I do have live too far away too. I’m doing what I can, body flashbacks make me feel crazy, like I’m losing my mind

Re: My special place

I think it is normal to feel guilty for reaching out at times @creative_writer

I hope you can find support on here too.

I'm sorry to hear about your body flashbacks hon. I hope you are able to get some respite from them. In saying that I do know how much they can take over your mind and your body.

I will say goodnight now hon. D is picking S up from work later on which means I get to go to bed earlier then expected.

I hope you get some sleep/rest tonight hon and tomorrow goes well for you. Will check in on you tomorrow hon. Thanks for the chat today/tonight and for keeping me company 💗💗
