My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

I'm sorry you are having to go through all of that @creative_writer It must affect your mental health greatly. I hope you are able to get some relief from it soon.

I find it hard to do things nice for myself when I'm like this. I think the depression takes hold and makes us feel undeserving. Then I make myself do something nice, doesn't help and back to square one. It is a vicious circle at times.

Re: My special place

@Snowie, I’m just resting up. Have amber glasses on and pulled the blinds down. Can’t say I feel great but certainly better.

I know when you’re low it’s hard to feel worthy. I think we often need to remind ourselves we are deserving. I think you are deserving and so do the other forumites. I think sometimes we need to use multiple coping strategies when low if one doesn’t work. If A doesn’t work, or doesn’t mean B won’t work either but I do understand persisting can sometimes be hard. Sending you lots of love 💖🫂

Re: My special place

I hope the resting helps @creative_writer and the darkness does too. I have suffered from migraines before and the darkness always helped.

I think we all need that reminder that we are deserving. We can see it so easily in others but when it comes to ourselves it is so difficult to do. I do try and have back up plans. I make lists that are easy to achieve so I know I can at least accomplish something that day. Today's list was get dressed and go get my bloods done. Tick to both!!

Re: My special place

@Snowie, a list does sound like a good idea. I’m proud of you for getting some stuff done today. I got some stuff done earlier in the day too, I’m glad I got it done earlier since I am not functional right now. I’m in bed. I’m still wearing my lounge lol, I think I’ll just change tomorrow after I get myself in the shower. Hopefully my hand and arm will be okay by then too.

The agitation has settled. It’s weird. I guess too much light is a migraine and agitation trigger. I do feel flat and burnt out. I feel far from okay, but I don’t have the energy to do anything I shouldn’t be doing

Re: My special place

I'm glad you got some things done earlier today too @creative_writer Hopefully you can now just get some rest and feel better soon. You are putting yourself first which is really good to hear.

It's hard when we feel like we have nothing left in the tank. Happy to sit with you hon whilst you are going through this.

Re: My special place

@Snowie, I’ve sprayed some perfume so I smell okay. But I really don’t care right now about my clothes even though I’ve worn this top for longer than I should, but I’ve lost too many spoons to be out of bed. I had an app with my psych this morning and wasn’t able to sleep in today, hopefully tomorrow. I don’t feel like doing that Centrelink call tom, it can wait, my wellbeing is more important. I still have plenty of holidays left till uni is up and running. It’s been an exhausting day. It’s exhausting when you see your supports too. You don’t know how many emotions you release until afterwards. We will both get through this together 💖🫂

Re: My special place

Sometimes just being is enough @creative_writer I sometimes go days without changing or a shower. Small things can feel so huge at times.

Even though our support appointments can help they do exhaust us. I find them so mentally draining. They can sap so much energy out of us.

Do you do uni on line or in person?

Still have a week before I see my psych. Has been a long six weeks without her support. I knew it would affect me, I just didn't realise how much it would.

Re: My special place

@Snowie, getting out of bed can feel like you’re moving mountains.

I think it’s important to have supports, but I wish isn’t wasn’t so exhausting. I hadn’t seen my psych for a while so had a lot to catch up on. It does affect you. I’ve needed a couple of PRNs while she was away. I hope the app next week helps you and you find it healing 💖.

Uni classes are usually squeezed into 2 days. I probably wouldn’t bother going into uni the other days and just do self study from home

Re: My special place

Getting out of bed can feel that way @creative_writer

But the important thing is that you got out today. For that you should be proud of yourself.

Whilst it is exhausting, I hope in the long run that the psych appt. helps. I feel like I am relying on prn's too much at this stage. I often wonder how much is too much.

Thats good that you only have to go in two days per week. D is at uni this year and only goes in 3 days of the week. The other days are study from home.

Re: My special place

@Snowie, supports do help in the long run. Have you had your everyday meds reviewed recently? I used to feel the need to take PRN on a regular basis but then had to get my meds adjusted.

I feel like uni has become more flexible. Many students work too so it works out well for them. I can’t afford to work with my MH and physical health, wish I could. I wish I could at least volunteer as a crisis support worker at Lifeline again, but my MH isn’t there yet. I’ve also had to reduce study load, still considered full time but not doing the full load
