Something’s not right

My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

I agree, I wouldn't let anyone read mine except my psychologist.

Yes, I'm a book addict and read between 5 - 10 books a week. I read very fast but that's still not healthy.

How much reading do you do? I think you find it not distracting enough maybe @Snowie ?

Re: My special place

Thats a lot of books to read in a week @NatureLover

I can understand reading fast however. It probably blocks things out that you don't want to think about. Might be wrong there.

I actually do enjoy reading but I have to be in the right headspace to do it. I used to read a lot, not so much these days. If I do read it is normally autobiographies. I have just finished reading Matthew Perry's book. I have about 5 other books at home that I haven't read yet so will start on one of them next.

What sort of books do you like? Do you have the actual book or is it online?

No, you're right about blocking things out @Snowie .

How did you find Matthew Perry's book? I haven't read it.

I prefer paper books, what about you? I like novels about trauma, thrillers, mysteries, crime if it's not too gory, and some autobiographies.

Sometimes escaping our lives needs to happen to let us continue @NatureLover

If reading gives you that escape then so be it.

Matthew Perry's book was good. He talked about his addiction with drugs and alcohol.

I prefer books in my hand too. I like the way it keeps my hands doing something.

My daughter reads a lot too, but mostly on line. I don't know how she does it!

We went to a book sale a few weeks ago where all the books were $2. Picked up quite a few then.

What are you reading at the moment?

True - you are so wise @Snowie .

Matthew Perry's book sounds interesting - I might order it from the library. I'm sure there will be a long waiting list, but I'm used to that.

I agree about online books - I think there would be too much screen time for me to handle that way.

Am currently reading "You Can Run" by Steve Mosby, a British author. It's good - distracting. It's the first I've read by him but I will look for more.

What's the next book on your pile to read?

Re: My special place

I think these days kids are always on their screens @NatureLover even at school.

My kids don't have text books anymore, they are all online these days.

Never heard of that author. Might have to look into his books.

My next book is The Dressmakers of Auschwitz. I particularly like book associated with WW1 and WW2.

I think if we all need that escape at times, even without a mental illness.

Re: My special place

That book looks good - I just googled it. I have read lots of novels about WW1 and WW2.

I heard just the other day that kids' textbooks these days are online. I would've thought that that's too much online stuff. And what about when the power / internet goes down?

I've got up (yay!) and done some laundry. Am going to get ready to try to go out now. Thanks for the chat 🙂 I hope your thoughts are manageable today and tonight ❤️

Good morning @NatureLover

Good to hear that you got to the shops yesterday. That can sometimes be a big accomplishment within itself.

I hope today goes well for you
