Feeling very isolated, down and lonley

Hi everyone, I’m feeling very isolated, down and lonely and are getting nearly no support. It would be good for someone to support me and help cheer me up?.

Hi @LFS,

im sorry to hear you are struggling, do you know if their is any mens sheds in your area, they are great places to meet other men with Mental illness and to meet new people, or maybe do some volenteering, that way you don't feel pressure to be their if you don't want to. as far as meeting women the only advice i can give you is don't try so hard, the right woman will come along when you least expect it, it is so tough being in rural areas, im not sure if you are, but i am and i find it extremely difficult. i have had depreession and anxiety all my life and i have been housebound since 2001. i have never had a job, but i have met a nice woman im in love with. i was just lucky to find someone for me, it was unexpected, i never ever thought anyone would want me.

try to care for yourself and find a way to manage your daemons seek as much help as you can from professionals. and your life will slowly rebuild.

i hope things work out for you @LFS.

Re: Feeling very isolated, down and lonley

I had multiple breakdowns at work too - it was a large corporation that was trying to edge out all the older employees so they could replace them with part-timers and not have to pay benefits to us older folks. They made it very tough and I was hospitalized several times with breakdowns and ended up with 4 ulcers. Even though my doc wrote them a letter stating that the job was the problem, they wouldn't quit. Finally, they gave me a choice of either "retiring" or take a chance and probably get fired.

I realized that, for me, the job had turned into being my reason for living. It took several years to re-focus, but I did. I'm still on meds, but refocusing my life on different things. Don't know if this helps, but I'm really rooting for you!
