Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Note* Ive just started this thread again so it will be visible. Once I deleted my account it no longer shows up.

please join in again if and when needed.

welcome @AbigailCoop and @DesolateNight, I hope you find our forums helpful. We are like a family on here, we try to encourage and help each other get through difficult things, and also our accomplished things, you don't have to post if you don't want to and can just read posts, we never judge and are very respectful to everyone.

Another welcome, @AbigailCoop, @DesolateNight.

Hi @saturnzoon, @Bunniekins, @Shaz51, and everyone.

I only really post here when I've done something with the day. Yesterday, for example, was a lost day. I slept 18 hours of it and just watched TV for the rest. But today I have made up for the lost time:

  • woke around 9am and stayed awake
  • breakfast and meds
  • time on the forum
  • rang mum for her birthday
  • made bed
  • shower
  • long walk to local village
  • op shop visits there (no buys)
  • went to art group there
  • made a platted bracelet
  • walked around to bakery
  • took bus home and ate my pie there
  • two loads of washing
  • hung out on line.

Probably walked about 2.5km all up, good exercise and nice to be out. That will probably be it for me for the day. Will be mostly watching TV for the rest of the night.

Best to all, as always, for achievements large and small.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Hi @Teej @outlander @Shaz51 @Mazarita @saturnzoon and friends

I have taken a mental health day off work, and ironically it has made me super anxious to the point of struggling to do anything I have done some ironing, and have plans to use my time well but haven't felt this level of anxiety in ages. Part of the reason is that I want to apply for a new job. Just the thought of putting an application together is overwhelming.

So I just want to put some goals for the day out there:

  • finish the ironing
  • pick up some books from the library
  • drop in on my daughter who is in the thick of exams
  • make a start, however small, on my job application
  • sweep the floor

If I can do all that, I'll finish the day feeling better than I've started it.

Hope all of you are feeling ok today

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Hi @Teej, @frog, @Zaphod, @outlander, @Shaz51, @saturnzoon, @Bunniekins, @CheerBear, @eudemonism, and others who might struggle with motivation, as I do...

Actually as I look at those tags that I added from most recent posters to this thread, I can see that there may not be many of you who struggle with motivation for simple daily tasks as much as I do at times!

Nonetheless, for anyone who finds this useful, here goes...

My friend @eth has written about something in another thread that I find a very good idea. I thought I'd share it here for anyone who, like me, has a tendency to hit the forum first thing in the morning and maybe get distracted here for a while. Distraction can be a good thing, but sometimes it keeps from getting things done.

@eth's idea, which came from her psychologist, is to do some things offline before coming online here in the morning. Today, for example, I made my bed, did my physio exercises, stacked the dishwasher and got it going, and updated my little dates diary with one or two things I want to remember to do. It's not that much or that hard, but I think it's probably a better and more motivational way of starting a day than coming straight online.

Sharing with you here, for what it's worth to anyone reading.
