I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in
You can try to get the kids to help with the vacuuming by making, say Saturday, your vacuuming day. Turn up at their bedroom door sometime across the day when they are in their room and ask them whether they would like to vac their floor, or have you do it ...... if it is to be them it is to be done now (to avoid any opportunity for them to procrastinate and leave you on hold) ...... if they say it will be you, apologise in advance for any small items you don’t see that they will have to fish out of the vacuum bag later for themselves - that usually does the trick - and they will soon learn that it will take them all of 2 minutes to throw a vac around their room ...... which usually encourages them to pick things up out of the way, and think twice about dropping them in the first place if they have to keep moving them out of the way of the vac each week.
I keep dirty wash baskets in their room. While vacuuming, ask them to throw into the wash basket anything that belongs there. If you haven’t done it before, when they graduate high school, show them how the washing machine and iron work, and let them know they are expected to look after their own washing needs, but you are on hand to advise and assist if they need it.
@frog, hoping this helps ......

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in
Thanks @Faith-and-Hope I am pretty efficient. With working and driving kids around, I can just do the basics through the week, then it sort of takes over my weekend. I like the idea of putting clean clothes on their chair - will try that.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in
I think there ends up being lots of little ways of doing things that sort of grow together into patterns @frog, that suit us as individuals and get things done along the way .....,
Sharing tips is a good way of tweaking our own way of doing things in an area that could work better perhaps.
Glad you liked that one 😊

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in
I am laid back about housework and dont want it dominate my time or relationships.
Periodically I let standards go. For most of life as a mum I have also had students come to the house so I have a bottom line of approximately clean and tidy.
I do find the best way to get kids to respond is when the mess/activity is annoying to them.
It is fair to withdraw your labour in order to encourage children to contribute more.
We all work out those patterns which suit us.
Cheers @frog@Teej@Faith-and-Hope

You are not alone in the motivation collapse stakes, @Teej. Sleepwear all day. In and out of bed. At least I woke up sometimes and am awake now. Waking up and getting out of bed was the only item I ticked off my extremely basic list. Better luck to us both tomorrow. ox

You wanna know something @Mazarita. I’m still in my pjs. I’m so hoping I get my act together tonight and do something. Today my only ticks are coffee and meds...oh and I watered some plants. Trying not to beat my myself up yet.
Same bat channel tomorrow for us then Maz 💜🤗

Oh yes, I have had my meds too, @Teej. And I've made myself hot drinks and cereal (breakfast and lunch, lol). And I've eaten what C made for me for dinner, cheese and tomato toastie. All in all, it was a day. @Teej
