I am not tagging anyone in this as you will read it if you find it and want to.
Today I had a huge breath-taking shift moment, which when I told my foster sister, I broke down and cried.
I spent the whole day alone, except for a man coming to buy my mother's juicer. I only spoke to my biological sister briefly on the phone until my foster sister rang with some lovely news and I told her my good news.
There was nothing extraordinary in my day today except one thought. As I progressed through my day, I cleaned my house, prepared pumpkin for soup, and fixed my dinner. I washed Jasper, my black and white kitten and cut his claws. My other boy cat had a delightful few hours of his own peace in the back garden, tethered to the clothes line by his extended lead.
I ate really well today. My usual breakfast of cereal, fruit and yoghurt. No lunch, just some crisps and a cup of tea. Some delicious watermelon a bit later, and a pork chop roasted in the oven for dinner was so tender along with some home-grown pumpkin, carrots and potato.
I ate my dinner out under the back patio. I fully immersed myself in the tastiness of my meal, simple as it was. The sun was setting with some beautiful clouds and colours. And a couple of birds were chasing each other through the bougainvillea bush, uncaring that I as only metres away.
That one thought? Today was the first time in almost 2 years that I have felt good to be alive, that life is possibly worthwhile and can be beautiful. I didn't know when or even if I was going to feel like this , and I also thought it would be a long way off, but a peace and calm has come over me today. I am trying to trust in the process of recovery, whatever shape that it might take, and that something good will be there on the other side.
