Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Note* Ive just started this thread again so it will be visible. Once I deleted my account it no longer shows up.

please join in again if and when needed.

Lol @Bunniekins not so crafty. Just colours I’m afraid. I studied website design for a while and have a bit of a passion for colours and colour palettes. I’m afraid my skills are limited to manipulating images mostly.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

@Teej It comes from a song by a band called Joy Division. It is rather dark but for me it really expresses how I am when my mi is out of control. Have you thought of putting up a tag line for yourself?

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

No @Bunniekins. It probably not a good time for me to find one just now, it possibly wouldn’t be positive or hopeful. Maybe if I get through the next few months I might find one that is more optimistic or poignant. I have a big life change coming up very soon that I need to deal with. I’m about to go from a stage of always being able to pay my bills and have food on the table but no money for much else to knowing that’s not a reality as from next week. It’s much of my distress and there are lots of things that landed at my feet unexpectedly lately. I have huge messed up feelings over it because it affects the kids hugely too. So for now that’s my current story. I don’t want sympathy. I know so many people on this forum go through this or have gone through it. I think I read you’ve been there too. Possibly not the best thread to write it on but I guess it’s about to affect my daily routine and motivation in a big way. It’s affected so many goals. That’s my vent....and lots of tears and si over it.

@Bunniekins I just looked up the song. I guess I can relate a little bit too. Thanks for sharing. Another distraction 👍

@Teej I love the live version of the song. The singer dances like his soul is jumping out of his body. He wrote the song because he had uncontrolled epilepsy. I wouldnt suggest the rest of their music for you right now in all honesty.

@Teej " I don’t want sympathy." can I say that understand? .... I prefer understanding better than sympathy. I fell over the other day and really hurt my hand and it is only now repairing itself (2 weeks ago) and I have to say that I loved the feeling of it so yes I understand.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Thanks @Bunniekins. Understanding is a pretty good way of expressing it. For me this is much more emotional than practical. Practically I’m doing as much as I can.... meaning cutting non essential things. I’m hoping to keep my car running but not sure yet.

I did read about the epilepsy related to the song. I didn’t really listen to joy division growing up but knew of some of their songs. I’m probably more familiar with “let’s dance to joy division” by the wombats as one of my sons thrashed it 🤨

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

I've got to do something about my situation and circumstances... As I'm rather unhappy and displeased with them...

-less coffee and cigarettes (work toward quitting both) as they are both stimulants. They wake me up, get me going, keep me going throughout the day and fit into my social scene. But pretty much ain't helping.

-less TV, less phone time, less radio time, less Internet time, less computer time. They help as a distraction. But actually cause problems. In the form of feeding the positive or negative aspects of illness.

-work on my relationships. Build better boundaries. Work toward better values. Make sure I'm getting what I need and want first. Know what I stand for.

-get more exercise and outdoor activity into me. Don't let myself get stuck inside all the time. Do more walking (don't forget how good it feels) do more things I enjoy.

-change medication. Eat less. Be more active. Get job. Study.

@Teej Isn't it amazing how the tiniest things can have such a wonderful impact. I am so pleased that I tagged you.

I am always wondering if I should or shouldn't tag people for lots of reasons. I try to take the more uplifting path that people might enjoy being included over the 'why would they be interested in what I've got to say' path. It's not always easy is it.

Sometimes it takes me ages to find the people and get the tags but I found tonight you can cut and past a whole heap and they work! Woohoo.

Those petunias must be a real delight for you to look at every day Teej. Really vibrant and a wonderful pick-me-up, I'd say. Lovely.

I don't like to use poisons for too much either Teej, but there are other things to consider too, like personal safety.
