Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Note* Ive just started this thread again so it will be visible. Once I deleted my account it no longer shows up.

please join in again if and when needed.

Hi @Teej, @frog and everyone here,

It's been a few days since anyone posted so thought I'd add an instalment.

Today has been a quiet recovery day after a very big day by my standards yesterday. I've written about yesterday elsewhere, so will just give you an idea of what (and how little) I do on days like today:

  • get up, coffee, medication, open blinds
  • turn on music to hopefully move me along a bit
  • breakfast, second medications
  • basin wash and dress
  • make the bed
  • forum
  • make lunch and eat it
  • meditate (and fall asleep, still okay)
  • check the mail
  • bring in washing from a couple of days ago
  • one small load and hang out.

There won't be much more before I go to bed tonight but I've already given myself 'permission' to have a minimal day like this, so sparing myself the self-beating. Haven't been out of the flat all day except to check the mail, but that's alright too. I am recovering my energy to have a much bigger day again tomorrow.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

I seem to be the only one in this thread at the moment. But I'll still post here, so hi to anyone passing through.

I have a rental flat inspection coming up at the end of next week. The list of jobs to do seems endless. I'm going to post here to help my motivation. Today I have already moved furniture in preparation for tidying room up. Would also like to get done the following:

  • clean mould off blinds in my bedroom
  • fix vertical blind bottom catches hanging loose
  • clean windows, ledges
  • clean overhead fan
  • dust and tidy room thoroughly
  • clean full length mirrors on wardrobe

That will be enough to start me off on the daunting job ahead of me.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Hi @Former-Member, @Faith-and-Hope, I've been at it for four hours. Have done most of the bedroom, including some jobs that weren't on my list, like moving the bed and vacuuming all the nooks and crannies where dust has built up in the room, and cobwebs. Also cleaning all the wood in there, including the very dusty guitar. The room hadn't been thoroughly cleaned for quite a while. Have been streaming with sweat, dripping. My lower back is complaining heavily at this point. Still have the following to do:

  • clean overhead fan
  • thoroughly clean big shelves (big job)
  • clean wardrobe mirrors

Need a solid break now though cos I was getting to the point of swearing at everything, lol.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

The cleaning jobs continue for the flat inspection coming up on Friday. I took a break from it all yesterday because I was stiff, sore, exhausted, and in a weird mood-slidey state after five hours of cleaning on Saturday. Yesterday I also had a special, much-loved visitor I hadn't seen for a year. I kept any energy I had for her.

Today I'm going to take it less intensely than Saturday, as I am still feeling physically drained and not very motivated at all. Trying to pace myself with these cleaning tasks so as not to go into frozen overwhelm and be unable to do anything at all. So I will keep it simple and just try to:

  • thoroughly clean my bathroom (vanity, toilet, mirror, skirting boards, shower, floor swept and mopped, bin emptied etc).

Because of my physical limitations, it will take me quite some time to do (also why it took me five hours to do one room on Saturday).

Today, if I get through anything else on my long list of things to do for the inspection, that will just be bonus.

Hope the day is productive in some way for anyone passing through this discussion thread.
