this is a symbol that we are all in this together. that we arent alone in this, no matter what it is we are going through. the infinity symbol represents the life long friendships i have made here. the gems in the centre more represent that we are indivduals within ourselves whilst the circles (the figure 😎 maintain the closeness of us all as a community.

Re: rough time

@outlander from my personal experience...and i know its different for everyone..i have found DBT therapy to be very helpful..i started it in august last year after coming out of hospital and so far all is good...as you have probably been told the therapy consists of both group sessions and 1 on 1 sessions with a phsycologist and it goes for 1 year with the option of repeating another year...it is pretty full on especially the homework you have to do..but once you get into the swing of things it becomes routine..a big plus to it is the 1 on 1 with a phsycologist which you see weekly..except for public holidays...thats around 45 or 50 sessions a week..(too hard to do the maths and figure out exact no of sessions) and if you're feeling distressed the phsycologist may offer you a couple of sessions a week if time permitable until things settle down for you...so having that in place is so much better that the MHCP 10 sessions...plus its all free🙌
let me know how you go if you do decide to participate😊
i also understand what its like to have the threat of hospital looming over you all the time...and i find when i am admitted there is only so much they can do...they usually throw lots of sleep/sedation meds down my throat and when im discharged i dont have those meds so i find i dont sleep well and within a few days am slipping backwards..my regular meds are mood stabilisers, antiphsycotics, and antidepressents which help with some of my symptoms but not sleep...last time i was in hospital a nurse joked that the amount of meds i take is what they would give a 6ft tall angry man...and they were puzzled by the fact that i didnt get sleepy hence the sleep meds given...
A safe object sounds great ...anything that helps is a good thing
have a happy day

Re: rough time

Hi @outlander thanks for the tag. Sorry I am a bit behind on posts as I just returned home. I had a great day out, just what the doctor ordered.

Sounds like you are progressing well which is great. Your GP sounds good. I am on sleeping tablets and just recently started a mood stabilised (only short term until my sleep cycle settles); and my GP authorises them without needing clearance from "higher up"? Not sure what she meant there. One think I do know is that they don't like prescribing sleeping tablets. My doc knows my history well and saw me five years ago have a total breakdown and also knows what I have been through with my daughter so has no problem with prescribing them to me. But he won't many others for the reasons you described. I think they are concerned about the liability they could face. I think the way your GP prescribed them was sensible.

I had the same issues as you did with anti-ds after being on them 18 mths. And the excessive weight did cause health issues with me too. So I don't touch them now (also the side effects were disabling after awhile) - after being on them after that above period they started to worsen my symptoms too (felt zombified). Short term with those worked best for me, initially a lifesaver so they definitely have there place. If I get my sleep then any other issues I get I usually deal with well through other strategies that I talk a lot about on here. Sleep is important for so many things.

Glad to see you were proactive in reaching out to organise a safety plan. Well done you! Hope it all starts to fall together soon for you and that you find those special moments of peace and happiness (I had a few today 😊). Thinking of you ❤️
