This is a tricky one @outlander and one I'm currently facing with my fear of therapy.
I don't think there is any easy suggestion or advice I can give you.
But one thing I do know is that to gain trust, you have to trust them first. What I mean by that is that you have to take a chance and trust them with something little and when they prove that they are trustworthy then you can gain confidence in them and trust them with the bigger stuff.
I'm not sure how and what you mean by letting them treat you, unless you are referring to therapy. But I wonder if part of the problem, which is something I also suffer from is that you need to open up and admit to having problems. I have HUGE issues with this. But I think to let them 'treat you' you need to be open to asking for help first. This is something you need to come to inside of you, not something that is dependent on anyone else.
I guess I would ask you - how has going it alone been? How do you envisage help to be? One of the hardest things I found in entering the mental health system was that everyone asked me what kind of help I wanted. I had NO IDEA what they were on about, I just wanted to feel better and back to normal. I now know they were talking about medication and therapy and support workers and the like. It's like you needed to know what you needed before you received any help.
I would work out what you are happy disclosing and what you're not and walk in there and be as trusting as you can and as open as you can. It might hurt. It might hurt a lot. But it also might help a lot. You won't know unless you try.
