Hi @outlander
I am really glad you were around to chat with last night - and I guess you are trying to get tested now and I hope it goes well for you - you are having a rough time right now
I read somewhere in the site that your Pop is really hard to feed and doesn't understand about the trouble you have getting precisely the food he wants - it seems he has a limited diet - his choice - right now and that it is hard to provide all he wants - this has to be impossible and a very dicy situation
There is no way to get through to people with dementia - this I know - he normally gets what he wants and so he can't see why he can't have it now. I hear you.
I really have no advice - I did have a child who was really picky and I used to put the all the meal on the table and never commented on what to eat. There would be no dessert if I noticed Miss Picky wasn't eating any vegies - fruit was always available and I avoided food fights - she has an interesting diet now - eats the most unusual food I have ever heard about - quite a change - my son who was difficult in so many areas ate everything but pumpkin - he was easy to accommodate
But this doesn't help you - I have the feeling that just not providing what you don't have and pop wants won't help - your patience can't be endless. I guess telling him that it's what's on the table or nothing will go nowhere and he just forgets
I wish I could help - you helped me a lot last night just chatting about all sorts of things - I hope your test goes well this morning. I have been thinking about you and wish you the best. I am waiting to hear
Personally - I rang the Hot Line for Seniors about the new rules for us oldies about staying at home and going to the doctor - I can walk or catch a taxi - I can't just talk to the doctor - I need to see him
All the best Outlander and thanks for the chat - it really helped

hey @Owlunar @Snowie @Sans911 @MDT @Former-Member and everyone passing through
ive just got back from the testing-gosh its awful having that done but its over now and they said they've marked mine as urgent as im a healthcare worker meaning that ill get it between the end of today and Wednesday, ive signed up for text so if its negative they'll text me, if its positive they'll ring me as an urgent case and will give me directions on what to do.
for now I have a mask to wear if I go anywhere near pop, I need to stay isolated so mum has taken today off and her partner isn't working tomorrow so can watch the kids, hopefully ill hear back by then. the nurses were really nice though, I was extremely nervous and had 2 coughing fits in the time I was there so they let me just chill in the room for a minute and just chatted and actually took the time to let me calm down rather then rushing through. im very thankful for that!
tomorrow, good Friday and easter are very triggering days for me so im overly anxious as it is atm and everytime my phone buzzes I feel like a jack rabbit scurrying over to where my phones charging.
ive put some music on now though, checked into here and im planning on trying to do some studying.
im not going to make any of my crochet business items up from now until I hear back from my results so theres no other risk of transmission
I think the next few days is going to be very challenging but im going to try my best.
thank you everyone for your ongoing support esp during this time. I really do appreciate it.
@Owlunar (sorry didnt tag you properly) your welcome for the chat, you also kept me company at the ungodly hours of the morning though I didn't sleep till 3am and was up at 730 so not much sleep here atm but ill be resting for now anyway. yes he is very fussy, I wouldn't normally do my bulk buying and hide it but the past few weeks when ive been at the shops ive been buying an extra bit of things here and there so I know that we have things for brekky, lunch, cleaning and snacks for the next few day.
theres a chef who would normally be working but due to closures of her café (not cause she has the virus just cause of restrictions) shes making homemade meals for people to buy, they are abit expensive but me and mum are going to go halves since shes said they serve up to 12 people so we will go halves in a few meals and things like some muffins and bread for something extra.
itll work out expensive to start with but when we buy takeaway it cost us 20 or more because we have to have it delivered and that's only one nights meal.
sorry just went right of the track!!!

I'm glad you got tested @outlander
Hopefully you get the results quickly and they are negative. It is good that you don't have to worry about the kids and that your mum can take care of them.
Take it easy hun, especially with some tough times approaching. Remember you always have us here if you need that extra support.
Take care hun ❤
