Re: rough time

@Sans911 finally free for abit!
Ok bare with me while i write this as having trouble explaining what im trying to say.

Im wondering if you (or anyone) have any ideas on how i can organise activities/coping strategies and what strategy is good for what.
So like my worry box helps me with my worries and associated thoughts these and put away my worries. And then i put it in my coping box.
But i have all these strategies and new activities that its overwhelming and i dont know what to do with them all or when to use them. Should i have a workbook and a separate list of the activities i cs do?
I have my safety plan to keep me safe but i dont want to constantly use those to help me problem solve, self soothe, distract otherwise they will loose their effect. I also need to work out a way to have them in my car like a list or something to remind what i can do on the move.
Ok theres like 3 problems there but i dont know where to start

Re: rough time

@outlander - I've just woken up from a sleep lil Sis, and I want to also take the time to answer your questions properly in a thoughtful way. And yes you're right- you can't refer to your safety plan all the time as it looses effect. And when the list of helpful stuff becomes overwhelming, it is not helpful either. And if you're travelling in your car and need coping strategies when you're on the move, that also requires different skills that don't interfere with your ability to drive or concentrate. So give me a little time and I'll see what I can come up with ok?

Re: rough time

What do you think about any of these ideas @outlander........

Create a booklet of strategies or have one per page in an exercise book so its big, clear and easy to read/see and something you can flick through.

Create a lucky dip style jar or box which you can dip into to try and keep things mixed up. You'll never know what you're about to pick up- good way of practising being in the present moment 🙂

I wonder if you have any particular images, words or photos that you coud use for when you're in the car? Trying to think of simple things that you can access when in the car.

Create a selection of Apps which you can use as part of strategies too, that way when you don't have access to your other channels of strategies you can use ones on your phone.

I'm logging off now but will come back to add more on Wednesday 🙂

Take care.

Re: rough time

@outlander - @Former-Member has some good ideas there. I'm working on a project book I call my self soothe book. It's small enough to take with me. In it I've have images of things I really love, like the beach, lavender fields and the colour purple. I've also cut out a crossword to do (and will probably add more). But something special I'm doing to my book is to add tactile features like sand from my foster sister's beach. And lavender from my garden. So the book is really personal and meaningful. I'm not finished yet, so it's a work in progress.
