Re: rough time

Hi @outlander , I'd be at my wits end trying to mange and handle what you are. The only thing I can think of at the moment would be to look at consolidating the loans you have into one, possible with lower interest. This might make things easier to manage and perhaps you could get a 'bit extra' to get rid of some of the bills that you are being hassled about. You've probably considered this so sorry if its not much help.

Re: rough time

Oh @outlander, hearing your overwhelm & feel for you. Being a carer is hard. Our best never seems to be enough and we feel guilty for the little we give ourselves. But you do need to self care.
Finances can be so stressful... I remember taking care of dad's & running two households... Sometimes (when stressed), I didn't know if I was Arthur or Matha.

Now I put all my bills in a folder, in due date order (fortnightly, monthly, annually...) and refer to it every pay day. You might need two folders, one for ya pop. Do the maths over the year ÷26 (fortnights) to know how much you need to leave aside for pending bills each pay... Its very hard to get in front once behind, and robbing Peter to pay Paul... but it's really just maths and careful planning. Salvos have Financial Counselling devices.

Re: rough time

Sending you some hugs @outlander Hearing how difficult things are for you. Have you tried to discuss your financial reality with your mother at all? Surely she should be helping you meet your Pop's expenses. I know it's difficult with her at times, but maybe it's worth trying. So sorry you're going through this. Hope that some of the advice you're getting here is helpful.

Lots of love

im so embarrassed and stressed about everything I dont know what to do with myself. 😞

unfortunatley as my loans are on contract I cant really change them now. Ive only got one payment to go on one and 2 more on the other so its not to much longer, it just cant come soon enough. My centrelink loan however I cant apply for till december unless I can pay the current on off faster but I know it wont be possible. When those 2 loans are paid off Ill be able to add extra onto the bills or at least hopefully be able to focus on one at a time to pay them off.

atm I really dont know whether im arhur or martha either, I feel like im going crazy trying to do everything and fit everything in. each payweek I sit down and work out the bills. Some are set as the 'must do' like rent and the loan repayments but the rest I work out what we can afford between groceries, bills like electricity, petrol and medical expenses like medications and appts etc. between the both of us we are struggling to pay much at all. Its so embarrassing 😞 I sell things that I dont need just to scrape through as best that we can but im running out of things to sell 😞

I had to swollow my pride and ask mum and her partner if I could lend some money to register my car. She is in abit of financial strife atm as well as both she and her partner lost their jobs and have only just been in their new jobs about a month so atm they are catching up the best they can with their bills as well. Once pops tests are done in the coming weeks itll be better but apparently these are urgent so I feel awful having to put them off any longer then they really need to be.
I know I get the rebates back from medicare but 300 every appointment and then more for these tests its making so extremely stressed out and then pop goes and says things that he doesnt mean (and then he forgets because of his dementia) like 'well then put me in a nursing home then
