Twisted -self care
Every morning I drive east into the sun.
At traffic lights I put sunscreen on the backs of my hands.
This morning I realised that this is self care,
Very rare for me.
I need to do more of this....

Hello @Catcakes. I'm sorry things are so low for you.
Do you mean no one physically around you cares, or no one here on the forum cares, I guess I feel a bit confused about how to respond, or if it's better for you not to respond. I really don't want to be making things worse for you because I like you.

Oh, so glad you took your knitting with you @Catcakes !
(((( @Catcakes )))) thank you for your kind words. I hope somewhere in there you get a teensy tiny bit of uplift from craft inspiration too.
Look after you won't you, sometimes looking after others is a thankless and almost always, exhausting, task, not matter how much we care about them. ![]()

Not at all @Catcakes. I respect that they are your feelings ....
I know we haven’t known each other long, but I care about you, and what is happening for you .... you are carrying a heavy load, and clearly have for some time.
A large family takes a lot of involvement anyway, and then added carer roles, particularly multiple, makes it more challenging again. With physical health issues and mh challenges, that is an awful lot for anyone to cope with .... I feel for you, admire your strength, care and perseverance, and I am concerned for the strain you are under as well.
If you want to talk about a particularly stressful day, I am happy to listen, but if you don’t, that is fine too .... we all have to do what is right for our own well-being.
I hope you have had a better day today. The knitting must be satisfying .... if you can’t do much else in the circumstances, it keeps your hands busy with something and your mind on autopilot, but the rows of work start adding up to a finished knitted item for your efforts .... and that is something.
💜💐

Thank you @Catcakes for your extra birthday wish for me. I hope your time on the forum imporves. I have to take time off regularly. DO what you need to do. You have so much going on.
For about 10 years my birthday has been overlooked except for 2 friends and my son. Because of the family mess I did not make a big thing about it. Mostly birthdays were things I had to organise for others.
This has been the biggest birthday I ever had. There were lots of notifcations here and a handful on other social media. On my actual day I did things I liked, tho most people did not really know me. It felt like "coming home" when I logged on.
The main thing I am learning is that it is alright to care for oneself. It keeps me chipper for those around.

I am so glad you had a pleasing yourself type of birthday @Appleblossom. Belated birthday wishes to you.
I often shift my birthday to another day so that I may take my own time with doing something for myself. I expect I am remembered (though probably not fondly) by certain persons on that day, but no one bothers to make contact and that is a don't-have to-cater-to-others type of freedom I can now mostly enjoy along with the I-just-don't-understand-how-it-came-to-this stuff.
@Catcakes you must be going great guns with your blanket knitting. I hope you're feeling a bit better. I screwed up my tatting so there's be no added edging. I'll post about it over there ------>.
@Faith-and-Hope hope things start to dry out soon, you will be missing your walks I expect.
Rest well when you do everyone. ![]()

Funny you should mention “dry out” @Former-Member ..... I have come home to a flooded kitchen floor ☹️
