Re: Christian Chat

Thanks for your summary @Realness

I especially liked Romans 16: 25 - 27 (doxology) that God is able to make our faith strong and steady through the message of Jesus! All honour and glory belong to Him, and it is through Jesus Christ that this is revealed. 💚

Hi @heartathome , @DownMoreThanUp , @Appleblossom , @ENKELI , @tyme , @REDLINEZ750 , @Shaz51 , @MissGremlin ,

I Corinthians 1

- From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God's will, and Sosthenes.

- To the church at Corinth plus those in every place who call on the name of Jesus Christ.

- Grace and peace.

- Paul always thanks God for them because of the grace of God given to them in Christ Jesus.

- that you were enriched In Him in all speech and all knowledge.

- you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.

- He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

- No divisions please. Some were following Paul, some Apollos, some Peter, some Christ.

- The word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is the power of God to us who are being saved.

- Because God's foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.

- Brothers and sisters, consider your calling: Not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.

- Instead God has chosen the foolish, the weak, the insignificant - no one may boast in His presence.

- It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus - Christ is our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

- Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.

God has chosen us, the weak, to be very rich in Jesus Christ.

I probably wont use AI for therapy.

I guess I have done enough language work and IT, and dont really want to give it any more power, let alone money. If its not human I dont want machine learning imposing upon me, more than it already has.

I was disappointed in the reduction of quality in search engines over the last 10 years... too over simplified... too many averages... anyway thats me... my soul and family... was also deeply wounded beyond repair... by an IT nerd... so I keep my distance...

mind you I love science... but seen the computing conflated with capitalism too much

it can be horses for courses... we are all unique

but still lovely talking to you all.

Re: Christian Chat

@Appleblossom oh Apple, I love your post! I am the same as you, reluctant to use AI. I excelled in English at school and university, and my family calls me a grammar n*zi. It is difficult for me to read posts where abbreviations are used, your instead of you're, there instead of their...but I will say time on the forums has helped a lot!
I am critical of the education kids receive these days, my Goddaughter when in year 9 and 10 had an English teacher who didn't have a command of grammar or spelling even though she was only in her 20's and Australian. I actually corrected a lot of this teachers' work, Goddaughter did very well in English those 2 years!

AI feels to me that it is taking away the ability for people to think as it is lazy for someone like me.
I do agree that it is a wonderful tool for those of us who don't have a high command of language and who struggle with what to say and how to say it.

I am glad it is helpful to my darling brother and sisters who use it, it must be a huge relief to have such a useful tool.

I hope everyone is ready for Easter. On Sunday I will celebrate 21 years of being baptised as an adult in the Holy Spirit. My family and I will be heading off for a couple of days as we have done for several years now. It's our "Family bonding trip" as mum calls it, just her, my brother and I.

I am trying to motivate myself to go to a Friday service as I haven't been in several years. Now that I have diabetes I am not able to fast as I used to but will be observing the fish only diet. Fasting for me was always easier because I don't like fish!! I bought some frozen stuff from Coles today, if I cover it with enough tartare or seafood dressing I'm sure I will be able to tolerate it!

God bless and may your steps be lighter today, knowing Jesus walks beside you.

Much love xoxo

oh @ENKELI

lovely to read your post

sorry my typing got bad on the forum

hope it does not irritate too much

i also took it as a way to be less perfectionist, relax and be more casual

oops... i may have pushed that too far...lol

i lie on one side and type with one hand on keyboard at 70 degree angle

gee that must be a lesson to get my desk in order

oh but my sciatica atm...no sitting... no excuses apple!

thanks for reminding me about fish on Friday

i need to work on the music for Holy Thursday, they call it Maundy at my church.

I used to love Holy Week as it had 4 days of the most glorious music at my old church.

it really helped me go deep spiritually, but I had to leave it, and appreciate different aspects of worship in my current church. Lessons in life...

Re: Christian Chat

@Appleblossom oh sweet Apple, I have never had trouble reading your posts. And as I said, for me being a perfectionist when it comes to spelling and grammar, it's been good to read posts that have different grammar and spelling. I am less uptight about it now, although I have been reading some government documents and the typos and grammar in some of them are appalling, it makes my head hurt lol!!

I am glad not everyone is a perfectionist when it comes to grammar, spelling etc. It has taught me patience.

And I always love your "gently bently" at the end of your posts.

Yes, we call it Maundy Thursday as well. It commemorates the last supper, and how Jesus gave a new commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." (Jn 13:34). It comes from the Latin 'mandatum' meaning mandate, or commandment.

I learned this recently 😀

Re: Christian Chat

@ENKELI Yes The Lord commands -😱- The commandment? That we should love another! For He gave us His love to love each other with.

@Appleblossom @Realness @heartathome @tyme

So if a heart does not love brother or sister how can such a heart even know God? For God is love.

Love in the human heart begins like all other of God's good, like a mustard seed. Heeding love is what makes it grow so that is the first commandment. For us not to just take God's love for ourself but to share Him out among ourselves. This is how John sees Him walking among the Seven candlesticks in Revelation 1. Not Jesus merely sitting Upstairs at Father's Right hand, but also bringing God's love alive among us walking in our midst Alive within and without in The Family of God the truth of God's word.

Such is brings the joy of heeding the command to love another. For there is no greater Joy than to be able to love, although it is the hardest thing to learn to do rightly, a child can do it.😍

Re: Christian Chat

John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.

In this world you will have trouble.

But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

🇬🇷 Key Greek meanings (the richness underneath)

“Peace” — εἰρήνη (eirēnē)

Not just absence of stress, but deep inner calm, wholeness, and safety in God—even when life isn’t calm.

“Trouble” — θλῖψις (thlipsis)

Means pressure, affliction, being squeezed or overwhelmed.

It’s a very real, human kind of struggle—not sugar-coated.

“Take heart” — θαρσεῖτε (tharseite)

Means be courageous, be confident, don’t lose heart.

It’s like a gentle but firm encouragement: “Hold steady.”

“I have overcome” — νενίκηκα (nenikēka)

From nikaō = to conquer or be victorious.

The tense here means a completed victory with ongoing effect—

“I have already won, and that victory still stands.”

“World” — κόσμος (kosmos)

Refers not just to the earth, but the broken, difficult human system—everything that feels heavy, chaotic, or opposed to peace.

🕊️ What was happening at the time

This is spoken by Jesus Christ during what’s called the Farewell Discourse (John chapters 13–17).

He is speaking to His disciples the night before His crucifixion

He knows He is about to suffer and leave them physically

The disciples are confused, scared, and about to face their own trials

So this verse is:

a warning (“you will have trouble”)

but also a comfort and anchor (“in me you may have peace”)

and a promise of victory (“I have overcome the world”)

He’s basically saying:

“Things are about to get really hard… but you’re not alone, and this isn’t the end of the story.”

This verse is about

peace that doesn’t depend on circumstances,

strength in the middle of pressure,

and trusting that the outcome is already held. 💚

hugs and hugs @ENKELI

I love your enthusiastic energy

yes I also, cringe ... lol... at the lowering standards in official documents ...

dad was a proof reader... and I was an editor once ... but we shouldnt be too snooty ... we all make mistakes ...lol...

We did this hymn "A New Commandment" last night... though not quite as flash ... lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X8m9tVR0_Y

I honestly grappled with the concept all my life.

I guess I settled on the importance of agape. That Jesus was trying to bring back a caring aspect, rather than excessive legalism and money making of the pharisees.

I dont overly focus on the COMMANDMENT aspect, as it seems too heavy for the actual work of learning to love one another. Thats a lot of human beings with a lot of different needs and personal styles... there are also the issues around ... what is appropriate love ... with all the abuse issues ... so I move away from B&W renditions ....

anyway... its a work in progress, for me... I tend to be analytical about power imbalances ... just my way...

A lovely couple sat next to me in church this morning. I guess gradual growing trust and friendship with both of them. That is some solace for my soul.

@heartathome @DownMoreThanUp @Realness @tyme @MissGremlin @REDLINEZ750 and all who need ... and are reading...

Re: Christian Chat

@Realness love that you are including more Greek. It adds richness to the readings... and ability for us all to reflect.

How the word is to be interpreted ... is a mystery for each of us to contemplate with respect to our own journeys.

May your Holy Week and Easter be BLESSED.
