Re: Christian Chat

I had a feeling it was greek @heartathome .

My brother in law is reading a hebrew bible... he's always been interested in hebrew.

It's bad, but I just laugh at him.

Wow @tyme Hebrew! What a languge to learn. I imagine it's complicated, although I've heard English is the hardest language to learn. Has he been reading it for long? I wonder why he chose Hebrew. 💜

Re: Christian Chat

@tyme i do know with Hebrew that the language says much more, and with much deeper layers, with each word than English does.

i find myself looking up the original text at times to get more insight to the meaning of the O.T writings. People's, city's as well as district names more often than not have much more meaning than just a name.

For example did you know that if you put the meanings of the names of the first 10 righteous men in Genesis from before the flood in a row. You will basically read God's salvation plan through the crucifixion of Jesus? Such is amazing stuff when you get into doing this.

Like the 'Valley of Hamon Gog' means to a Jew the Valley of the multitudes of Gog. E.g the complete slaughter of the hordes. (Ezekiel 39)

🙂 let’s look a little deeper at the Hebrew in Proverbs 31:25–26 from the Book of Proverbs.

Verse 25
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”

Key Hebrew words:
Strength – ʿōz (עֹז)
Means strength, power, inner might.
Not just physical strength, but inner resilience and courage.

Dignity / Honour – hādār (הָדָר)
Means majesty, splendour, honour.
The idea is that she carries herself with nobility and grace.

“Clothed with” – lābash (לָבַשׁ)
Literally to put on clothing.
The image is that strength and dignity are like garments she wears every day.

“Laugh at the days to come” – tishḥaq le-yom acharon
Suggests confidence about the future, not fear of what lies ahead.

Verse 26
“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”

Wisdom – ḥokmāh (חָכְמָה)
Deep practical wisdom for living, not just knowledge.
In the Bible it often means living in alignment with God.

Faithful instruction / kindness – torat ḥesed (תּוֹרַת חֶסֶד)
Literally “the law/teaching of kindness.”
Ḥesed is a powerful Hebrew word meaning loving-kindness, mercy, loyal love.

It’s interesting that these verses are shared on International Women’s Day, because they celebrate strength, wisdom, and dignity in women

@heartathome Thanks sharing Proverbs 31:25-26, i love Proverbs 31.

@tyme @Realness @REDLINEZ750 @Appleblossom @ENKELI

The Word of God exposes any legalistic religious sexism that might creep into our Churches reading the text with carnal minds.

A king in the word i understand to mean 'that what rules our hearts within', that is why Jesus ought to be ALWAYS Lord of lords and King of kings for He is The King of our Heart!

Hi @heartathome , @DownMoreThanUp , @Appleblossom , @ENKELI , @tyme , @REDLINEZ750 , @MissGremlin , @AlwaysMyself , @Shaz51 ,

James 1

- From James to the Jewish Christians dispersed abroad.

- Count it all joy when you experience various trials.

- Knowing that the proving of your faith works patience.

- Let patience have its perfect work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.

- Ask God for wisdom.

- Ask in faith without doubting.

- Let the person in humble circumstances glory in their exaltation.

- Blessed is the person who endures temptation. When they have stood the test they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.

- We are not tempted by God. We are tempted when we are drawn away and seduced by our own lust.

- Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of all light.

- Be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.

- When you have laid aside all filthiness receive the implanted Word in meekness - which is able to save your souls.

- Be doers of the word, not hearers only.

- If you think you are religious, but can't control your tongue, you are fooling yourself.

- Pure and undefiled religion: looking after orphans and widows, and keeping oneself unspotted from the world.

Let the person in humble circumstances glory in their exaltation (high position). Patience has its perfect work when we are mature and complete, lacking nothing - I think despite the circumstances. Complete, lacking nothing, regardless of our circumstances. Complete in Jesus.

I love James, @Realness . He's straight forward and easy to understand (mostly)

I like howJames teaches that trials grow our faith, God gives wisdom generously, temptation comes from our own desires, and true faith is shown by living out God’s word—not just hearing it.

It's not an easy journey when the trials hit! That's for sure!

How are you doing, my friend? 💜

Yes, I've heard that. And that's why with the translations, meaning can be lost. @DownMoreThanUp

Hi @heartathome ,

I spent most of the day in James today. The whole book. But the summary would be too long if I put it into one summary.

I have read four of the five Thursday Murder Club books. It is keeping me busy. Feels productive. Plus I like the characters - they're nice to spend time with. The escapism is lovely.

Visited my sister on Friday which was nice.

Hope all going well for you.
