Acts 20
- Paul goes to Macedonia.
- Paul goes to Greece for three months.
- Paul travels back through Macedonia because of a plot by the Jews.
- At Troas, on the first day of the week, they assemble to eat the Lord's Supper.
- Paul, about to depart, talks for a long time.
- Eutychus falls asleep, falls from a third storey window.
- Paul restores life to Eutychus.
- Paul continues to talk for a long time until dawn.
- Paul travels to Miletus where he calls for the elders of the church at Ephesus.
- Paul's farewell talk to the Ephesian elders:
- You know how with great humility and tears I've served the Lord.
- In my teaching I have not held back anything helpful for you.
- I taught both Jews and Greeks.
- Repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus.
- Now I'm going to Jerusalem.
- The Holy Spirit warns me that chains and afflictions are waiting for me.
- But I consider my life of no value to myself, my purpose is to finish my course and the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus.
- To testify the gospel of God's grace.
- You won't see me again.
- Therefore I declare to you I am innocent because I have declared to you the whole plan of God.
- Be on guard for yourselves and your flock which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as overseers to shepherd the church of God.
- After I go, men will arise who will distort the truth.
- Be alert remembering that for three years I never stopped warning you.
- And now I commit you to God and the word of His grace which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all His holy people.
- I haven't coveted anyone's money - I have supported myself - It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Then Paul knelt and prayed with them. The Ephesian elders wept at the news they would not see Paul again.
Drawing to an end of Paul's free life. "However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace." Many of Paul's letters were written from prison - they may not exist if Paul had remained free to travel and preach.
