@Moose123 So GOOD you are hanging in for so long already. Keep up the Good Work finding Jesus and therefore your Freedom back! (John 8:34-36) i'm with you all The Way!😀
i found that to give each urge to find physical comfort to Jesus, and finding comfort in His love and support instead, while asking (i know i pleaded at times,) Him to replace it with His ability to self-control.
i know it may sound absurd to you, but i found that doing this replaced my inability, and unwillingness, with ability and willingness, also, and in particularly those times when my needs called the loudest to be fed, and i tend to try and overcome it with my own willpower. i found that when i 'overcame' my addiction (for some time,) through my own willpower, i would fall back into trouble again. Especially when disaster struck and all the reasons i was in need of my comforts would scream for the support i used to feed myself going through this kind of stress. Or i would fail because i prided myself in my ability to take control for the time i had done so. i found that doing this would be a sure turn around back to being overcome. Usually only a day or so further up. Yet when i involved Jesus every step of the Way i would break free of whatever had me mastered, mastering it down the line In the Spirit of Jesus, rather than being always overcome in my fallen one.
You found this to be true fighting your addiction(s)?
About Jesus being our light of day. i fully agree with you on that One. The Word of God tells us Jesus gave His body, His righteous life lived down here, for the LIFE of the whole world, (John 6:51,) unlike a lot of Christian religious people teach saying we are born corrupted of spirit already. The Word of God tells us we all originate from Heaven, and are destined to dwell in that spiritual place again, once our life in sinful wrong is over.
In effect this means to me that if i do unrighteous things in my life, which always means i do not love true, i literally crucify my God given Good Life. Sadly i literally crucify Jesus in me living in sin. This was such a shock to me, believing i had been born corrupt and could never do anything good from myself. The truth is we are all God's offspring, and He gives all of us life. These are what the parables about The Talents, as well as The keeper of the King's Vineyard are all about in my understanding of things.
(Psalm 127:3 & Psalm 139:13-16, as well as Acts 17:28 & 1 Corinthians 3:11-15, clearly confirm this truth about us.)
So yes my dear friend hold onto Jesus - YOUR TRUE SELF GIVEN BY GOD - and where you have died you know that in Christ you will be resurrected, (Revelation 14:13.) This is sure happening in my life. Amazing to see myself back a toddler, child, teenager and young adult in Jesus, time and again.
So glad He is the Advocate for all us fallen sinners down here. (1 John 2:1-2) i surely hope you keep the eternal good O(o)ne in sight looking in the mirror my friend! (1 John 2:18-29.)
(Ever watched Pilgrims progress? The animated movie is an awesome one, and deals very much with being stuck with, and then letting go of, wrong finding our Way in, and with Him.)
