It take alot of courage to quit.

@utopia. You will get there. Just small steps.
I went 1 step forward, 2steps back, 3 steps forward ,2 back. Its not a quick fix. I didnt do AA but i just did it knowing that i cant let my kids see like this anymore.

Re: Any recoverying alcoholic or alcoholic in the forum

hi @Bubbles3

Haven't had a drink for 5 weeks and this is the hardest it's ever been for me when trying to give up. I get urges every day and because I used alcohol as a crutch when thngs got too tough or stressful, I am finding it difficult to think of healthy ways to deal with the stress. I am finding I just seem to be substituting alcohol with sugar.

I was diagnosed with a fatty/enlarged liver, and if I don't quit drinking I'm on the road to permanent liver disease or cancer, so it was something I just stopped. If I can cope with not drinking then I can tackle the issue of diet.

How are you doing?

Re: Any recoverying alcoholic or alcoholic in the forum

Thats good @NatalieS
5 week is good. But you have to remember.....it does get easier fir you. The longer you hold off the better. But if you do slip up...... just shurg it off and start again. Dont be disappointed in what you have done. I know its a hard road. Iv been there. Even now ...i slip up. But i get back up shake it of and move on.

Well done thought ....... 5 weeks is tough work.

Thinking of you
