Re: TRIGGERRED!!!!!

@outlander - ok, so you have to wait until the 14th for more testing. You've no idea at this stage of outcome. So you can worry which is natural, but don't overthink it. Maybe like we did before, you give it 25mins if worry time, then you physically put it in a small box with a lid on it?

So do want to walk me through the mess, step by step. See if we can put a plan in place to manage AND stay safe. Do I need gumboots?! 😂

Re: TRIGGERRED!!!!!

I can try to do that @Sans911 im not very successful with it though.

Lol gumboots... yes and a hose to make it slippery so u can actually walk.

Re: TRIGGERRED!!!!!

Hi @outlander

I've caught up with you at last -

I have read that your Pop is going to have tests in a week and the process as well as the outcome is sending you into a spin

I get it - I have done enough spinning myself lately - it is really tough - really unsettling - I understand that

So what can you do? What CAN you do? This is a toughie

So alas - the answer is the same old answer and so important to remember -

Breathe - and then remember to breathe again - sheesh when I was in hospital and my knee was giving me a hard time I had to do just that and how hard such a simple thing is to do - to just breathe

But it does work - maybe for a short time but practise makes it easier

We all care here - you can share with us and remember

Just having your family move out was a really big deal - major stressor - now they are gone and your Pop is sick and life is really unsettling

But I get it - we all get it - this whole thing is a major deal for you and life is not at all easy

Thinking of you

Re: TRIGGERRED!!!!!

@outlander nobody says you have to be successful hun. All you can do is the best you can. So what's first?

There is a DBT skill called Cope Ahead. So we are going to see what of this mess we can help to put some strategies in place so it's not piling up to much, ok?

Re: TRIGGERRED!!!!!

Yes your right @Owlunar even breathing at this point in time it to hard. I hope that knees healing well though

Ok @Sans911 never heard of that so not sure what is involved with that strategy.
I dont really know where to start. Its all everywhere.

Re: TRIGGERRED!!!!!

@outlander - it doesn't matter that you haven't heard of it. Just start with one thing that is difficult for you right now. Or perhaps while we're talking write down a list of all that is bothering you and things you need to take care of but are too much right now.

Re: TRIGGERRED!!!!!

Hi @outlander

The knee is doing okay thanks - I was told that now if my knee doesn't like it I will know and I sure do - it can really ping at times

About the breathing - I understand it's hard but never too hard - it's the most basic thing we do so yes - we must

Even if it becomes the 24/7 survival mode atm - keep breathing and life will go on - I promise

I have read how you are feeling right now and I understand - but if you don't breathe - wow -

Keep breathing - one breath at a time - one after the other - this way you will be in the best shape to help your Pop through this - right

I care - I am thinking of you - I know life can seem to be impossible at times

Re: TRIGGERRED!!!!!

@outlander - well done lil Sis.

Ok,we have kinda dealt with your Pop.

Do you have a small lidded box? And some cards?or can make some.

On one of those cards write down Pop's test, 14th Dec. At some point during your day you can take that card out, find a quite space, and worry your heart about it for 15mins only! No more. You can cry, get upset, get angry, whatever you feel. Then it has to go back in the box and the lid goes on. And you're not allowed to think about anymore, ok? If you do Sartre worrying about again, then find something to distract yourself. Music, TV, shower, etc. Do you think you can manage this?
