Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away: No responses please

Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away: No responses please

Got something that's bugging you?

Want to vent, but don't want a response?

Sometimes our minds can get stuck in circles trying to sort out an issue. This can keep you up at night, or make it hard to focus on other things. I find that putting things away, and not thinking about it temporarily can be helpful.

This is the place to get it out, and then give yourself permission to let it go.

Maybe you will need to get back to it some other time, but this is space where you can put it in a place so that you can leave it for some time and (try) not to worry about it in the mean time.

It's a thread where people don't need to reply, it purely just to get it out your worry and concerns.

If you want to show your support for someone, hit the 'like' button. In this thread, 'like' doesn't mean that you 'like' someone's issue, but you support them in letting it out.

So write down your concerns, put it in a vault, shut the door, and allow yourself to walk away from it.

Pls note: If you are reading other people's posts, please respect that they don't want a response. Show your support by 'Liking' their post.

I'm so depressed and my life is a mess. I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't know how to get out of this mess. It feels like I'm in hell every day.

Sometimes the whole world seems to ice over cold. Exhausted and weary. Lost in trials and tribulation, some even broken, lashing out. I feel that, it hurts..

I'm sick of being teary. I'm sick of craving support and attention when I can't give them myself. I'm sick of drifting through life pretending I know what I'm doing while knowing in reality I couldn't be further from the truth...

At my core, I want to stop wishing my cancer might return to finish me off because I cannot do it myself. Apart from anything, it was so long ago. I'm free. I just need to get over it.

(Just quickly, I am safe. Just not having a good week)

Teary at 4am. Hours and hours of up and down waves of distress about social interactions today with a support worker. Many good things about our outing to a beautiful national park and I like her as a person.

But on each of our three sessions so far her advice-giving has bothered me. Today I also felt her observations about me were invasive, too interfering in a very personal way.

For example today she was telling me how to take pictures in the forest because she'd 'observed' that last week in a different forest I was in a 'photographer' mode instead of her idea of a 'mindful' mode.

As an artist for decades, I take photographs slowly, considering the forms and textures of plant life, trees, sunlight as it lights in lacy patterns sometimes, others strong warm beams of light. When I have gone on walks in nature, I often take no pictures at all and prefer not to speak so as to see hear and sense the forest more fully, or mindfully.

It's all shaken me up though I am proud that I avoided a nasty exchange. I felt humiliated, patronised and also incredulous that she felt free to be so invasive. If it was the reverse situation, I do not imagine her finding it helpful or supportive to have someone micro-advise her in such a way.

Too many people in this NDIS journey with supervisory views about me and an apparent need to advise me without me asking for their advice. I already have a psychiatrist and psychologist that I actively seek advice from about my mental health. I do not want further advice from support workers and various others in the psychosocial support field.

There are just too many voices giving me advice. They are also often not in agreement with each other's philosophies and approaches to mental health. This makes for confusion and worry in me.

I also find it belittling.

I wasn't going to go online* but I woke up in such a horrible state of anxiety that I thought writing about it might help.

I was lying in bed in that state where you are half awake/half asleep and some of the objects in my room had a nightmarish appearance. For example, the backpack that is hanging on my wardrobe door looked like an eagle with a half rotten skeleton. I have the light on now and all the scary imagery has gone.

Gosh, I need to do something to comfort myself. I think I need to get up and make myself a cup of tea.

*I felt that I had been spending too much time online.
