Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away: No responses please

Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away: No responses please

Got something that's bugging you?

Want to vent, but don't want a response?

Sometimes our minds can get stuck in circles trying to sort out an issue. This can keep you up at night, or make it hard to focus on other things. I find that putting things away, and not thinking about it temporarily can be helpful.

This is the place to get it out, and then give yourself permission to let it go.

Maybe you will need to get back to it some other time, but this is space where you can put it in a place so that you can leave it for some time and (try) not to worry about it in the mean time.

It's a thread where people don't need to reply, it purely just to get it out your worry and concerns.

If you want to show your support for someone, hit the 'like' button. In this thread, 'like' doesn't mean that you 'like' someone's issue, but you support them in letting it out.

So write down your concerns, put it in a vault, shut the door, and allow yourself to walk away from it.

Pls note: If you are reading other people's posts, please respect that they don't want a response. Show your support by 'Liking' their post.

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

Me too with the distraction techniques @Former-Member. For me it's not about pain either but switching off my brain which is almost impossible to do without SH. Having said that I've had a few to urges to pain inflict SH since Christmas too.

Do you feel like you are on the right medications?

Wow..... mine's all about the pain. Needing to inflict pain and punishment. Interesting how different brains work.
Yeah, I'm on the right meds. I certainly don't want to be on any more. I was on a higher dose of ap in hospital and it got lowered due to cardiac issues and I think I was better with it higher..... but I'll see how I go.
Do meds your help your sh?

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

I'm currently not on any @Former-Member. The ones I was on don't help my SH. My SH is an OD so that shuts off everything. Not that healthy or safe in the scheme of things though. I have SH in the more common way too but it still wasn't really about the pain as much for me. I am really confused about meds at the moment. All my health professionals are in disagreement about what meds I should be on if any. For me mine is mostly about behaviour and situational depression. At the moment I can't change my situation so my depression has reigned. And I have lots to work on.

Its a pity that you were helped on the higher dose but you cant take it for health reasons.

That sucks. I hate it when medical professionals disagree. It's so frustrating! And I never know what to do.
I get pretty bad situational anxiety, and meds don't affect it at all. I'm sooo anxious about going back to work. I should be doing more deep breathing and exercise!
I'm a cutter... so my legs are covered in scars. So my sh is visible to all when I go for a swim 😢

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

That's hard @Former-Member going for a swim. I have lots of spider veins in my legs which have hidden mine but it's still hard to show my legs for either.

I wish I could wave that magic wand to help your work. I will be the same as you when I get a job. I've been thinking about volunteering a lot today. I think it's time but I'm massively scared too. I'd better head off and try to sleep. Have an appointment at 9:15 in the morning 😬 I hope you sleep too

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

Hi guys .....

Well .... crossed over topic with the other thread re swim ....

At least there are wet-suit look swimwear available now, and in separates .... maybe get leggings and a tankini top ? Anyone enquiringl about scars can always be told you were in an accident, and that should cause them to step back .... it it's your business ....

I have had melanoma, so have to wear long rashie gear when beach swimming in tropics or middle of the day .... kids too .....

There are ways around the issues. Get creative with it .... swimming is so good for you.

❤️💕😘

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

Hi F&H,
I have to confess I no longer bother about hiding them. Most are several years old now and faded. And I guess I'm less ashamed of who I am. So I go for a swim and just accept the negative reactions, and if I can't deal with that. There is always board shorts.

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

Good for you @Former-Member .... I know it's way easier said than done, but exchanging Sh practices for self-nurturing ones is part of the healing journey ... and self-acceptance needs to replace the sense of shame and embarrassment ... sounds like you're achieving these by degrees.

😊💕🌷

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

I'm still feeling really stressed and anxious

I am having memory problems that is reducing my quality of life because of how it impacts me day to day.

At the end of 2012 my GP gave me a sleeping pill that has been in the papers in more recent years.

I am not happy of course because she never warmed me of potential side effects.

I am not sure what cause of action I should take?

I'm just really worried about this, I just spoke to my specialist on the phone and hopefully I can get some help soon.

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

@Former-Member. Are you having any of the side effects with that medication? If not, it's most likely okay for you. It may be that some people get bad side effects - so it's not safe for them.
But it's probably good to check out - even for peace of mind.
