Yes good suggestion @Sans911. Maybe a cool face washer to take to bed, plus some water to drink.

Try deep, slow breathing to slow down your nervous system and override that flight-flight response. Then try coaching yourself with reassuring statements like:

I'm safe and ok here

This will pass and then I can sleep

There's nothing wrong, I'll be ok.

When you feel a bit calmer, try closing your eyes and perhaps listening to some soothing or enjoyable music. Continue the slow, deep breath.

I dont know why it comes on like that. I always have trouble coping and adjusting after a hospital stay. Maybe thats it or the reason i feel so anxious
