Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

I dream before I am even asleep. There is a name for it but I can't remember it right now. It is a horrible experience and quite often wakes me up from that thresholds of sleep leaving me feeling fearful and negative. Consequently I fear dreaming.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @peace,

Glad to see you here. Sounds like a very difficult experience to fear dreaming. Sorry you have to go through that. I wonder how long it's been going on.

I can relate a little to what you are saying about a kind of dreaming before falling into usual night dreams. Occasionally I get this experience of dreaming like that and I am aware that I am still kind of awake while seeing faces and people, always strangers. They seem to come and go quickly. It is a weird experience to be aware of that. It's like the very cusp of sleep and wake. Mostly they don't trouble me though.

Does anything ease that, like medication, meditation or other approaches?

Re: Night Shift

Hi @peace
Long time no see ..... How are you ? I'm okay ..... How is work ?
Husband ?
Going to the beach ?
Well you know I live in Freo with many hundreds of others but I try to get Arlo to the beach it's been too cold to lately, hey ?

Yeah I'm not 47 anymore..... I can't be the other name ..... When sane forums started I thought it was going to be another pie in the sky attempt at supporting direct loneliness and all round fear in MI
Therefore got a name for 6 months .....
Was I wrong

All is good here
I still eat too much yummy chocolate for my own good, still keep to my few little threads I relate to
Arlo got a flea treatment 2 weeks ago but he won't let me comb out all old attacks of fleas..... He has them everywhere so today bought a dog flea comb and he's god under the table not letting me comb him and scratching away
Lol
Hope to speak to you soon Peppy Patti

Dear @Maritza

To be honest @Maritza, I think I was about 8 years old when a very scary image came into my room but that may have been the last of bad dreams for me.

I talk in my sleep but everything is very nice my husband or friends who stay the night tell me I'm thanking everyone.
When I dose I'm always creating the latest art piece I'm doing or going step be step in doing art.
I think and praying all about my hands and body shaken up is that ...... For the moment the bad things happening to me are giving me a break for a long time
But at the beginning of this year I was getting wild disturbing dreams of a frightening man pushing into a bus I lived in
I went to see my old PsychotherPist because I was very anxious ..... And they were dreams of my Dad stealing my home 15 years before.
I agree with @Appleblossom who is knowledgeable ...... But will just say that years before I learned that nightmares are about 'something emerging,' but it took quite a few expensive and very upsetting sessions

It's a personal thing but your creativity should do just as good as what o paid for in still so surprised and delighted at what you did for a poem I always thought was not that good

Re: Night Shift

@PeppiPatty,

How cool, talking and thanking in your sleep.

I remember you saying a few times about your dad stealing your house. That's awful. Happy to hear the bad things are giving you a break. May it be long lasting.

I used to be much more emotionally involved in my dreams than now. I used to get bad dreams sometimes about my dad when I was a child. As an adult I was actively interested in dreams. They have been weird lately but I don't remember them on waking. This may have something to do with medications and my focus being less on dreams lately. More on trying to be part of waking life in basic ways.

Re: Night Shift

My horror life is nothing like others
I keep in perspective...for a while it was very important to own a home but in my life I don't need that right now.

A home at the end of the day is 4 walls just to me.

Re: Night Shift

Yeah on your message @Maritza
I love writing about my dreams but can only do it very infrequently
The last couple of days I've been focused on you supporting yourself and walking
Truly good
I still look at my Facebook page and play that utube ........ I think you have a quirky gift and hope you do more
