Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Yes, I really appreciate @Appleblossom being here. She and @Former-Member have a lovely bond too it seems. I also feel the sisterly vibe at the forum, dear @PeppiPatty

Re: Night Shift

Whoops. Sorry for coming in and then disappearing... I had finally gotten to sleep.
I've been struggling at work emotionally, I keep feeling irrationally frustrated. And knowing it's not justified makes me more frustrated... continue the circle...
My psychologists office called out of the blue to say there was an appointment free, so I took it.
He wanted me to relive a memory that terrifies me, where my mother attacks me. The idea was to add in a "healthy adult". Either way, I've kept that locked away. So I couldn't sleep... every time I closed my eyes all I could see was the past.
And I feel fragile. Like a broken statue that's been glued back together. One wrong move and I'll fall apart.
And I haven't felt this way in a long time, because I've kept it walled off. I don't like it...
I am supposed to go to work, but I got a text asking if I have time can i come up to the farm. I'm still feeling very fragile, and I've had little sleep, and I've got a ripper of a headache. I must have been crying in my sleep, my pillow is soggy. Ugh.

Re: Night Shift

Yep it was a very long session - I had what is called a balayage done. It more involved than getting just say 3/4 of foils done, as it requires more creativity. I've had it done before, but not with such care. The hairdresser said at the end "thanks for letting me play" - She has been a hairdresser for 15 years & really loves her job. I haven't seen her before, but I will definately see her again. I hadn't had my hair coloured this year - for a long time I thought I live on a farm - what is the point? However, I just needed some hairdressing colour therapy

Re: Night Shift

IKEA is awesome! "Mother in law" asked us to go there to pick up a new stove top the afternoon I was discharged from hospital last. I didn't spend much money since I didn't have much to spend. However, I brought a really nice green lamp shade that is rose gold inside, so it gives this beautiful glow to the room. I brought a few other things too. Stuff is quite resonably priced there. The lampshades elsewhere are terribly expensive! Hope you have fun shoping at IKEA! Good luck not buying more than flower napkins!! You will need it!

I will definately be postive if my partner suggests something that will help him!

Thank you for caring @PeppiPatty

Re: Night Shift

I didn't write this in my other responses, as I don't know if it will be removed. How do you guys deal with when your posts are moderated/removed? I've had two moderated/removed in a week & now I feel paranoid that I'm being judged.... It is great that these forums are moderated, but some things seem a bit strict in a way that makes it difficult to recieve support especially in relation to my eating disorder... I see some other posts from last night were removed, so it isn't just me.... feeling judged....

Re: Night Shift

Oh dear @Crazy_Bug_Lady.... Hopefully that treatment method works in the long term. It sounds like it has been painful in the short term. I get headaches quite frequently - my psychiatrist thinks I need to see a neurologist. That sounds expensive to me! I thought it might be an idea to get a calender in the new year & mark everyday I have a headache & then work out with my gp if I need to see a neurologist. I hope your headache goes away quickly & you have a better day today than yesterday. Sending kind thoughts your way

Re: Night Shift

It was frustrating at first, but I've worked out what I can/can't say.
The idea is not to say anything that may be triggering.
So, I can say i want to SH. But I can't say where and with what.
Does that make sense?? I'm sorry you feel like you're being judged. I do understand what you mean about it being difficult to receive support sometimes. My SH is not the typical forms, so it's not simply a matter of "putting down my tools"...

Re: Night Shift

Thanks @Former-Member I've had stuff all sleep, and really didn't want to go to work this morning. Then I got a text asking if I had time to come to the farm. So I called in sick and I'm here at the farm. I got here early so I could sit in the paddock with the cows.
