Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Gosh - ripping up your degree certificate & sending it back to the university - how do you psychoanalyse that??!!!! Then spending all your money on plastic surgery - it sounds like she needs therapy herself. The psychologist I saw for 6.5 years who I had a really good relationship with & she was warm & empathetic - she even would see a psychologist herself. Hopefully I'll find a new good psychologist in the new year *fingers crossed*

Re: Night Shift

Hi everyone. Another big day here with social contact, including a long and intense support group session. Less than ten people. I'll be going back I think. Also went to group meditation again. Spent hours aside from that with peer mentor. Psychologist tomorrow. Not much more to say at the moment, a bit burnt out by more outings and intense real life social contact than I'm used to. It's been really good too.

Re: Night Shift

Sounds like the social contact was rewarding yet tiring @Mazarita Hope you rest well. I'm exhausted too - driving half an hour in one direction to see the GP - getting the EPC wasn't as simple as I remembered & the appointment was 40min - then we drove 2 hours to the nearest capitol city to go to the hairdresser - which I thought would take 1.5 - 2 hours & had arranged to met one of my firends I havent seen for ages, but the hair took 3.5 hours! The longest hair appointment ever, but she did a brilliant job. SO I didn't get to see my friend, as she had a physio appointment to go to. Then drove 1.5 hours back to where we live & just been on the computer trying to calm my anxiety.... Going to try to sleep now. Yoga (hopefully - currently feeling too exhausted...) & Partners in Recovery tomorrow.

@Former-Member Cool that you went to the hairdressers and enjoyed that. That is a super long hair session! All that driving, tiring for sure. Hope you get some quality sleep and that partners in recovery goes well tomorrow.

@Mazarita and @Former-Member

Hi,

I went to see Arafmi support group @Mazarita. It was you that kickstarted that for me. Im still a little motivated and feeling good from that. My partner came with me.....I knew he would want to but didnt think that it would go as well as it did because he is focused on me getting support.

He also spoke of his experiences.

Thanks so much.

Dear @aButterfly

Thats a long time....3 hours...whew. I must say, going to hairdresser, eyelashes tinted or facial is my most fav. thing in the world.

Good luck with Partners in Recovery. Please write when you have time, I'm very intereted in reading what it's like. I know the Partners in Recovery around where I live work very hard.

I feel a little shaken up and glad that today is finished and now Im going to work on this gorogeous handbag Im handsewing for my sister.

Care about you all so much! I think about you and hope that the day is going well for you

Dear @Former-Member

I forgot to write this ....

It's so difficult to think of your partner not selfhelping himself. I've been there....when my son was ill.....

I think, you can disagree but ....can you just be positive if he brings up something caring for himself?

If someone just hears....you need to take care for yourself they dont do it do they??

Re: Night Shift

Hi @PeppiPatty,

A wonderful gift you are making for your sister.

So glad the support group was a good experience for you. Shaken up is a good way of describing how I feel too after my engagements with other people in the real world, even when I've seemed to be fine at the time and it's been an overall positive experience. Great that your partner was supportive of you and participated in a good way to the group too.

Dear @Mazarita

You have been working so hard......

How do you relax?

Re: Night Shift

@PeppiPatty It's a good question. Being on the computer relaxes me in some ways. Especially when video editing I can lose myself in it which I like. I do spend a fair bit of time on it. Group meditation is relaxing. Just sitting in my chair listening to birds outside I also like.
