Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Yeah I am out of the old house now but had a bit of a breakdown day today @Faith-and-Hope. I've survived although I drove my therapist mad.

@Mazarita. You just helped. I guess I see this as a way to try to improve my 'outside' life by having the support but by also practicing social skills that are so rusty. But I think it's s bit more. I feel safe on here as far as maybe not having to wear a mask. I still feel obliged to put on a mask much of the time once I've walked out my front door.
@plasmo it's cool that you do regularly walk. I wish I could find the motivation and energy to

Re: Night Shift

@Faith-and-Hope. I think it's lovely you had a night out with your girls. Do you walk your dog when you go walking?

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member, I totally relate to wearing less of a mask on the forum. Partly that's because we have the anonymity. Paradoxically it seems to allow a lot of intimacy that wouldn't otherwise be so easy.

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita I agree but I guess that's the part that becomes addictive.

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member, you could be right about that part of the forum being the really addictive part. On the other hand I think it does help in practicing social skills, even if we do need to maintain more of a conventional social mask when out in the 'real world'.

@plasmo, what kind of things do you like reading?

Re: Night Shift

Re: Night Shift

@plasmo. The research would be interesting to read. I may have to look it up. It feels like a community who is there to support one another 24/7 would have to be a good thing.

Re: Night Shift

@plasmo, is it that you are looking for hobbies by reading about them? Or do you already have some. I'd be interested to know more about what they might be if you feel like telling.
