Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member, no worries with the intensity. I'm intense too usually. Fire any questions you like. Glad to have something to talk about.

@plasmo, more questions from me, hehe. I wonder what you do with yourself when you have a stop-at-home day?

@Mazarita. You do realise you've just signed your life away with that permission for me to ask questions😝

Hahaha, @Former-Member! By now you can probably tell I'll just go all mysterious on you if I can't answer anything you come up with.

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita. My question which is a bit loaded is how do you put this forum in context in your life? This week I saw both my therapist and my GP and told them I'd joined this community and they both had concerns for me about it. I'm trying to work out where I fit in all this and what is ok and what isn't.
@plasmo feel free to chip in if you have any thoughts too

Re: Night Shift

Hi guys 😊

I'm home from a night out with my girls. They're still out ❣

@Mazarita - glad you got the first "yes" on your video clip. It all sounds rather exciting, but you must feel a bit up and down in between finishing something so creative, and then having to wait for the wheels to turn for all the replies on it. I guess that's just part of the field of work tho ....

@Former-Member - I'm sure weeding all day in the rain got you over it pretty quickly !! Are you done with the old house now ?

@plasmo - I got out for my first long walk in a while today. Don't know how I'm going to feel about that tomorrow (!) but it feels good for now. I hope your mood settles this evening too.

❤️

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member, I worry about being addicted to the forum. But it has so many benefits too, for me and others, I know. With therapists and support workers, I've had differing responses from them about online forums, some against, some pro, some not bothered either way. I think we just have to make up our own minds about it. Probably the main thing I do is try to remind myself that my 'real life' off the computer is more important than what is happening here. I don't always get the balance right though, in fact it may be quite out of whack in some ways. But before I came on the forum I was spending long parts of my day just sitting in a chair staring into space. Anything is better than that and the forum was really the first step to getting me out of that terrible pattern.

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member i'm sure there are studies that show that online communities can have good results, blueboard had some kind of research like that, may be on the site.

i know cbt onlne has some good research.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope,

How nice to be out for a night with your girls. 🙂

It is part of this line of work that there are ups and downs like this. I've been at it for 30 years, you'd think I'd be used to that by now. But no, not this ole girl, lol. I'm like a kid waiting for icecream every time.
