@Faith-and-Hope@Mazarita
Police!! Wow - the Thin Blue Line in my family is so wide no one can find their way out of it - but I find the real police easy to get on with
But The Sleep Police and the Food Police - and others - are medically trained - but I like the way @Faith-and-Hope wrote it - we have to live - not just within the mores of our society - but our own rhythm - and find what ever that is
Of course we have the Politically Correct Police and the Dress Code Police and the How to Behave in Public Police - so I can start my own thread with the police I guess
However - with my husband not being a good provider and my disasification with being a home maker - I did the basics - had a clean house and cooked and did everything like washing and ironing - basic as - and went to work part-time at weekends and nights a lot of the time - pretty much a stay-at-home Mum - but I had to work at times - I went and did my HSC and then to University where I found life to be wonderful - and then of course - I had to study.
But when I could I got a full-time job - and this meant waking up early to study - being at a job that allowed me time off to go to the University - and did the washing before work, usually went out to tutor my private students after dinner and did my assignments in between all this of when I had time (often) late at night - while I paid my daughter to do some ironing and vacuuming - and I cooked most of Saturday - put a roast in the oven and told my husband I would spit in his gravy if he didn't put the vegies in when the bell went off (I don't remember if I ever did) and slept for as long as it took to cook a roast dinner
I have to say that when I slept I slept well - I could say I felt fulfilled
But when I injured my spine this wonderful life-style ceased - I had my degrees before all of this happened but I was studying at TAFE to teach ESL then - and teaching still - and the abrupt change of work, study, sleep and putting up with chronic pain really cursed my life - but somehow I have learned to live within that - not happy - but reasonable
So - as we can listen to the Sleep Police - I don't know if they factor in what we have to do with our lives as well as sleep - what about doctors, young mothers, ship-wrecked mariners - shift workers - hah - the real police, paramedics, nurses, aircrews - and we are told to give our best to our families too - and that clock keeps going and going and going and if people want to better their circumstances they need to do some study
Wow
Okay - let's look at ourselves and ask what we are achieving. I burnt the candle at both ends and I had not heard of the Sleep Police - but there were years when my father's shift work had the whole family tip-toeing while Dad slept and studied
We are who we are - imo - we sleep when we can - and it might help some people to sleep in a pattern - not me - I sleep when I can -
But there are things we can do to try and regulate ourselves I guess - mine - I fall asleep watching TV - it's amazing how different a movie I know well can be different when I start to dream
So - I am not putting the Sleep Police down at all - just thinking - we need to be our own police - after all - imagine leaving a great party to get to sleep at 10.30pm.
No way
This is me getting ready to take a walk on a lovely afternoon
