Good morning All 🌺
Thanks @Mazarita.
I know the Sleep Police include medically trained people, and there is a lot of research data to support certain ways of living, but here is something I know ........ as ancient as Austalia is, and we have our First People here (some of you may be able to tell us what the traditional sleeping patterns are for Aust. Aboriginal people) having spent time in Europe, there are patterns of waking and sleeping that are very different from what I knew and understood growing up here amongst people from European ancestry.
In Mediterranean cultures, for instance, if you are part of a village community, you may eat earlier, and go to bed earlier, and be up again from four or five in the morning. In the larger towns and cities though, dinner time is not usually until around 10:00pm. Most people won't go straight to sleep after a meal, so a bedtime of midnight or beyond is entirely common. Then most people are up again from around 7:00am, meaning they have had somewhere between 5 and 7 hours sleep. So, after lunch, and school classes finish at 1:00pm as a rule, everybody has a siesta time. There is a general social rule that you don't disturb other households between 2:00pm and 4 a 5:00pm for this reason .......
Then "night school" starts for the kids. They go to all sorts of extra-curricular classes - and it's not just the kids by the way. Extending your personal development (like cooking classes 😊) is considered so normal !! There are swimming lessons, martial arts, dance class, language classes (most kids in Greece are learning 4 to 5 languages at once in this current generation, and nobody is concerned that it is causing "dysfunctional language development - dialects are transitional in all their forms). Evening time is a "high-traffic" period in the day, mostly on foot, because even in the cities, most suburbs operate with something of a village structure and social mentality.
That has been my experience anyway. Sometimes I think we build up a lot of guilt over things we just don't need to ..... without meaning to oppose any sound medical advice. It's just that if "the best way" isn't working at the moment, maybe consider that other ways are okay too .....
