Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Morning @eth. Did you catch up on any good quality sleep?

Re: Night Shift

Good morning everyone

Hi @eth, thanks for the good wishes on the class this morning. Yes, I hope to bring back something yummy for partner to sample later. I'm dressed and ready to go soonish.

Ended up staying awake for quite a while last night, did some video editing after I was on the forum. The middle of the night is a great time for it, though I usually avoid doing video then these days. But last night, well I was too awake to sleep. So, as @Decadian says, I felt it better to do something interesting rather than just hang around feeling dissatisfied that I wasn't sleeping. I've probably had about five hours sleep all up, not usually enough for me to last a whole day so wouldn't be surprised if I end up napping later. Again, a naughty, according to @Decadian's 'sleep police'. But sometimes unavoidable I find. Will try to stretch as far as tonight before falling into slumber's embrace once more. But if I don't manage it, c'est la vie.

Chatty in the mornings sometimes, aren't I, haha.

@Snuchu, so glad you are getting the care you need at the moment. You seem to be taking it really well in your stride, despite being very reluctant at first. Kudos to you.

@BlueBay, I hope you will contact your psychiatrist today and maybe think of mentioning some of what we were discussing yesterday. I've also been meaning to ask if you got to the art therapy session last week and how it went. Thinking of you today and sending strength.

@Faith-and-Hope, hugs for your unsettled night. I hope today brings smoother travelling.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Former-Member, it's a really basic cooking class. I've managed to get to age 53 with almost no cooking skills whatsoever and huge mental blocks about even trying. This class is run by a local community mental health organisation. Yes, I'm feeling mostly positive that I'm read to go and will probably get there today. I often struggle to make morning appointments and have missed a couple of classes due to this already. Magic Monday means that it is one of your good days I think? Enjoy. 🙂

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita. Your not the only one. Both my ex husband and ex partner were good cooks and chose to cook a lot while I did the kid routine so I'm just learning and experimenting too. My counsellor named Thursday's as torturous thursdays. I've gone and named Freak out Friday, serenity Sunday and magic Monday. I really hope to break this pattern and have everyday more even. 😊💜

@Former-Member, great to hear I'm not the only one lagging in the cooking stakes.
