Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Hoping the x-rays are clear or at least something that's easily treatable @Mazarita. At one stage I was getting the worst cramps in my lower legs and it turned out to be a side effect of the cholesterol medication I was taking. Haven't had them since changing meds. But the foot pain was a neuroma - not fixable and the orthotics are very expensive.

Glad to hear you made it to support group and then had a visit out too. What sort of dinner did you get?

I'm cooking a salmon pasta dish with dill and capers for lunch today with my good friend coming over to plan our camping trip. Looking forward to seeing her.

Re: Night Shift

@plasmo, I like the natural sounds of the world a lot especially at night when there are very few. Loved it when I lived at the last place I was at near the national park. Possums, bats and other creatures of the night kept me company there. I get what you're saying though about how sometimes the silence can be a bit deafening when you're on your own.

@eth, I get cramped up too sometimes, especially the toes and calf muscles. Have very tight calf muscles and really should be doing exercises for it daily but I've been slack about it lately. Dinner was bacon and egg roll, cheap and delicious, though not the healthiest. Your pasta dish, very nice. Sounds like you are winding up in a pleasant way to the trip away. 🙂

I'm going to sign off and see if I can get some more sleep. Goodnight @Mazarita @plasmo. Want to start the day fresh and rested tomorrow. Hope you are able to also.

Re: Night Shift

@plasmo, electronic ambient music can be relaxing too I find. Pulsating musical drones, sometimes with melodic bits, sometimes not. Haven't listened to a lot of that lately but used to a fair bit. Slowed down some of the anxious/agitated times I get.

@eth, goodnight. Enjoy your day tomorrow too. 🙂
